Well, im going to go ahead and do a few more things to the 3.8 before I hang it up. I wanna make the $3000 I spent at leaste a little more worth while. Im going to get some MAC LT headers, and O/R H pipe, which I think will help me out alot. It might even get me past the 200rwhp mark maybe. After I do that, ill take her by a dyno and get tuned a bit. Then I call it quits for a long while and save for an 8.
Some technical notes:
I re-adjusted the passenger side RR's... befoe I could tel that it seemed to suck my hand in a bit when I put it on the end of the exhaust tip. So we re-adjusted, some were torqued down WAY too much. After re-adjustment, seems much better, but it still doesnt seem like the exhaust comes out as fluent as the driver side... So im not completely sure if theyr'e right yet.
Also, Im nearly 100% sure that my TPS is not working right, it takes my engine forever to idle down although its better than it used to do... but It still ravs up to high when I tap the gas and doesnt idle down for a while.
Ohh and, I may go for a EGR delete and PCV delete soon. Can someone tell what kinda advantages there are with those deletes (other than the obvious not having to mess with the stupid EGR any more when taking the upper intake off )
1. Your TPS is most like not the culprit but the IAC (Idle Air Control) that sits on top of the T/B could be. If the cars acts fine while driving it is the IAC. if it acts up while driving it is the TPS.
2. Taking off the PCV is suppose to eliminate some of the oil film from getting into the CAI and the intakes. This is a real problem with the 99-2001 cars more than your year. I have this delete and I am reconnecting it. The oil smell is obnoxious inside the car with the A/C or Heater on and at idle.
3. EGR delete is a good mod if you live someplace where you dont have inspections. If you do this mod keep the EGR setup because when the new federal emission laws take effect in 2 years you will be puttin them back on. I would also be prepared to buy some High flow cats then also. The main advantage to the EGR delete is eliminating the heat from the exhaust from entering the upper intake. Some cars experience knock when the EGR is removed but if you have a chip and are running higher octane this wont be that much of a problem.
Hmm, well my IAC was fine before I put the 5.0 TB on with the 5.0 TPS, so I dont know bout that one.
Some Q's about LT headers, what all will I need to get to prevent the check engine light from coming on? Also, would it be better to get O2 sensor deletes or do I have to buy some sorta extensions or what? The O/R Mac H-pipe will hook up to my spintech mufflers fine right? All I need is to use my welder... I know my mufflers are 2.25 inlet/outlet but thats fine right?
As far as the PCV delete goes, do you just plug it up under the upper intake? I know the filter things go on the valver covers right? Would this mod add any horsepower?
thanks
Everything goes out sometimes. Usually when you mess with it.

If you have a chip you have that turned off or you can by eliminators. I believe the H poipe is 2.5 andf the mufflers are 2.25 you might need to be a little creative but you have a welder so that should be easy

The PCV wont add diddley but it looks good. As far as a plug just go to a autostore and get some rubber caps . I bought an assorted pack and was able to plug all my vacuum areas left open with my PCV and EGR delete
Well, I definately think my cats are clogged up badly. Last night my cats were VERY loud, so loud that I was a bit concerned and looked under the hood... The bottom of my stock headers were glowing!! I figure that means something aint 100% right.
Another thing I noticed was that one or two of my sparkplug wires were arching alot. The number six was arching all the way from the plug to the other end. I guess that also means something aint right?
