if you read the owners manual, they clearly state that "hard knocking noises from engine compartment" are normal and should not be worried about. At least thats what it says in mine.

I have an CAI on mine and when I start it sometimes I hear a knock sound...and it sounds like its coming right from the CAI so I'm pretty sure thats what is it.

with the exception of my bad alternator and p/s pump my car was a steal. i've invested more in it than i payed for it already. it had about 46k on it when i got it. still waiting on my short shifter though.

My guess will be that the CAI hits the inside of the car body, put something between the CAI and the car and see if it makes the same noise.

My '95 has 68k

I get kind of a loud noise coming from the general direction of my CAI when i start it up, escpecially if the engine is cold. It didn't happen until I installed the CAI and it comes from the general direction of the CAI so i dont really worry about it....it sounds kinda cool.
