Emissions Test Failed

OK, here's a strange one. I have a 96 V6 Stang that has 155,000 miles. I have no problems with the car in the past two years of owning it. I took the car for an emissions test and it FAILED. The Check Engine light has never displayed and the car has shown no sign failure. The code description that was given is "Cylinder 2 Misfire".
How can I erase the code and secondly, would a simple tune-up and change of spark plugs fix the problem.
Let me know!

Ah..poor emissions tests....
I'd do a tune up and change spark plugs and see if that makes a difference first.

try disconnecting your battery for about 5 minutes, then reconnecting it. I dunno if that will help with your emmissions test though.

The problem is if you clear the codes a P1000 code will show up, and they will fail you, thats a tests readiness code, you have to drive about 50 miles so all the tests run and the code goes away.

Does the car run smoothly? its possible to get false misfire codes...but like they said, fresh plugs, fresh wires. Then get the codes read again and see if its there.
