SPI upper porting Q. cut&weld?

I don't think that you can fully port a split port intake because you can't get all the way down the long runners. Would cutting it, porting it and welding it back together work, like they do on the single port intakes?

That and would it be worth doing?

Just wondering

Actually I thought RGR and Pete were using a special honing technique to port split ports. Maybe I am wrong but that is what i thought.

Robert or Pete chime in anytime and help us out on this!!

I do have some special techniques.

I have a new flex-honing tool that helps alot in the
long runners, and some techniques that get a better
plenum finish with slight enlargement. But the plenum
walls are so thin that you can't enalrge much! Best
to just shoot for a better interior surface finish.

I can't tell you much, I need to get some patents
and still working on the P-H.

Cool! Hope you make it, is that with the same cam and more boost?

I got a used cam for a guy that has a similar combo to yours, it is going
together now. He just wants between 4 and 500 RWHP, it should ge easy.
The cam is pretty close to yours, it's my old single port SC grind from the last
millenium, but after we saw what you made I knew it would work well for SPI.

Dood has an 11# ATI w/IC. Should run well...

I have Miks cut and weld upper, Im not really sure if it makes all that big of a difference from the standard ported upper.I guess Ill have an idea after I get rid of the cats.

the better the flow the more HP.

Yeah, there was a 4.2 that had my old 3.8 SPI cam,
and it made 265/280, when Mik was working on that
setup, it made an extra 32 HP and 30 TQ from porting
the upper intakes heavily. I saw that combo from SSM
that had a much larger cam and made 260/260 but it
looked like to me they were preparing that one for an
SSX upper, due to the huge cam in there. It had a
standard ported upper intake according to the parts list,
so I'm sure that was holding it back especially with the
big ole honkin' cam

Was that Mr Konor?
