Re: 99-04 v6 true duals (help!)

going by the looks it looks like the catback is a standard GT catback and any GT exhaust will fit. I would double check. Also note you can get an adaptor for dual exhaust and bolt up a GT catback, this will be cheaper probably overall. A v6 with no cats or high flow cats does not sound where anywhere near stock.

Re: 99-04 v6 true duals (help!)

mainly the adapter or is just something that replaced the area of pipe you have chopped off (the stock Y is removed so you have two pipes before the merger) then you weld it on, the other end of it is connectors for a GT catback. The only thing to make SURE of here is to fit it all up before you weld the adaptor as your tips may stick out to much or the humps over the rear end may be back to far or to far forward~ once its all lined up then weld it on.

Im kinda confused about something... Are the "o/r" or "off road" x pipes not street legal?

Re: 99-04 v6 true duals (help!)

Technically yes, because they eliminate the catalytic converters which are mandatory by most states for emissions. That's usually why they call them "off road", because they are intended for vehicles on the track. I'd check before getting one, you wouldn't want to get burned for not have cats on the car.

A lot of people use them though...I don't think you'd have to worry about violating noise ordinances too much with a v6, it will sound raspy and high pitched, which makes the v6 sound nasty. An 03/04 cobra is a different story though, I'm sure you'll piss a multitude of people off with an o/r pipe of any kind.

you MUST have cats, MUST or its illegal for street use. Dont take the cats off your car, it will not sound good. Just do some form of catback.

Re: 99-04 v6 true duals (help!)

Thanks! I wasnt lookin to get offroad anyway... But i have seen a lot of threads with ppl saying they have offroad and also lots of videos with ppl with offroad... So i was wondering if it was legal or not.

Question clear! Thanks!

You think that pypes exhaust system is worth it? I wanna get something to bolt right on and not have to worry about anyting - i also want it to sound nice...

Re: 99-04 v6 true duals (help!)

I have the converter back pypes system that has the same street pro mufflers. I like the system. It has a nice idle, and a decent tone in the higher rpms. Your system will probably be louder and produce a little more power since it's eliminating the stock y-pipe.

If you want that system, I'd get it at American Muscle. They have it for $549.00 and free shipping. Just plan on having a shop install it. They claim you can do it in your driveway in a few hours, but it's just easier to have it installed on a lift.

Re: 99-04 v6 true duals (help!)

Haha nooo its cool!

I dont know if you've done this yet but yesterday i changed my spark plugs and the wires and i see a big difference on how the car rides. I have one question tho... The wires go behind the engine and they have clamps that r supposed to b attached to something but its impossible to do it, do you think it would matter?
