Not to mention Single Port

Nice low RPM too!

I'd say he is still running the original combo,
the TQ peaks late indicating a big turbo, I
used to know what it was... and then the HP
drops off kinda early, meaning he is probably still
running the stock valve heads!!! His cam was
kinda small too, but had good lift. That's doing
alot with little in that combo, nice work!

I bet it gets deep into the 11's. I wonder what the torque would be if it were a supercharger instead. :chin:

His torque was low due to a failing clutch. There is a C4 swap in progress.

It depends...with my mods it might be close enough to be a drivers/traction race ...It wouldn't be a blowout....and he may edge me by half a length or so, but it would be interesting anyhow. I could be just a ported blower ($400) away from being door to door.

Stock...I think he may have the edge there.

Needless to say, 500+ on a mustang dyno is very impressive as they nearly always run lower than dynojets.

that guy is a very very good river... he has already done 13.2s or better ALL MOTOR so you might have a run for your money... I would put money on him if it was me.

If he gets the kinks worked out... and your cobra cant do 11s or 10s then I wouldnt line up with him.

Impressive. What gear does he have out back? 3.73's? Even if he didn't win, it'd be a hell of a show. I'd put a buck or 2 on that race.

Smurphy, your garage link is teh d3d.

Shows you what a guy can do with little money and much tools

He put some good stuff in the bottom end, but as I remember the
top end was rather basic and has a home-built box upper. Side
entry, instead of front.

Another note: MAtt did most of this work while being a good dad to a small
girl, several of the times we were on the phone he was taking care of her,
feeding, diapers, etc

I don't know how some people do it all!

^yea, he has a custom box upper. dumb *** welded it shut though, so to get it off he has to stick his hand and wrench in through the throttle body opening

but god damn, 587rwhp @ 27psi??!!?!?!?!?! even with his forged 4.2 i didn't think he'd be able to get his numbers that high. with the 3.73s he has out back and the c4 waiting to go in, he will smack around 4/5 drivers

man, i might drive up there with my camera friday and grab some pics for you guys.. and maybe see if he wants a vid taken of a higher psi tune

yea, he's single port if a box upper still counts as single port... and yea, that's what the 4.2 was making N/A

Of course it is still Single Port, same basic heads
and same stock lower, but ported pretty well.
From what I know of his porting work on the NA
combo, he could hog it more, add big valves and
get more HP/TQ unless he has already done that...

He's got skills, we traded some porting info and his
5.0 porting is not bad either. He shot me a bunch
of flow #'s for step-by-step mods, quite educational.
5.0 Iron Heads really blow, but Matt did pretty well.

His boxed upper is pretty primitive but that is great,
his design is better the more boost you throw at it
and he's getting up arouind 2 bar now so flow distribution
is evening out quite well apparently. He has plenty of
plenum there too, looks like it's bigger than an SSX upper
and according to my knowledge base bigger is better for
high boost SC/Turbo setups

Kudos Matt!

1 to 2 more # of boost and you will have to change the
name of this post to 600 RWHP Broken!

Oh yeah, well, my garage is now teh fixed. (BTW, those HP/TQ numbers are stock numbers. Haven't gotten official ones since the 2.76 pulley swap and such).

For the work he has done, he certainly deserves to, and more than likely would, beat me. It may take good or great driving on my part for me to win. However, like I have always stated to other people, while I believe my car to be faster than the car I line up with, if I do get beat, that is just more of reason to do the next planned mod or mods. And if I get beat too bad, it is all the more reason to go whipple....then we will talk

lol year, there is a guy local with a black 03 cobra, kenney bell twin screw pushing some massive boost he is WAY on up there in the power. I belive he put down 700rwhp/tq not to long ago. With that irs... he is still at a disadvantage compared to a live axle on the strip though... but stick a live axle in and your good to go.

and matt has 4.30s in his car at least he did last time i talked to him

I wonder how much power a stock 3.8/4.2 block can take without worry? (Given with forged internals)
