Homemade Short throw?

Ok, does anyone know if this would work..

Instead of buying a short throw shifter, could you just cut the shifter down to a smaller size and rethread it?

I don't see any problems with doing it as my friend wants to on his Hyundai. Only thing is I don't have a tool to rethread, hot much do they usually cost?

dont do it. i would imagine it would be very uncomfortable. i suggest you get a triax. its not just about shorter shifts its also about how comfortable it is and how you can adjust the throws.

Cutting corners gets you no where... just fork over the dough for a steeda triax from www.shifergaskets.com and get you a free gasket with it as well. You will be much happier with the end results.

If not, just buy the $35 Steeda shift handle.

you could do that but it would still be a crappy shifter base, and the handle would be odd to shift... if you cant fork over the 100 bucks for a shifter just stoop moding your car.

I learned a long time ago, doing getto mods only leads to issues, heck actually buying the real things usually dont work right.

Only problem in all your posts is I'm not doing it. I have an auto.

I'm asking for a friend who wants to do it to his hyundai, I'll pass your opinions on.
