Fog Lights

Has anyone here installed fog lights to their v6? i was looking at some fog light kits at ebay and they are running around 200$ and come with a instillation guide. i was wondering if anyone knew if that was a good price and if it's a pretty easy installation to install them yourself? thanks.

Re: Fog Lights

I bought mine about 5 months ago and only paid 100 bucks for em. I was looking on ebay and the lowest one that I found was for $70. The only bad thing is mine didnt come with bolts so I have no idea what to use lol. Just when you start to order yours make sure it comes with the fog lights, the bracket, all the wires, a switch, and last but not least bolts lol. Here is the address for the ones that I found on ebay. mustang fog lights, great deals on eBay Motors, Fog, Driving Lights on eBay!

Re: Fog Lights

installation is pretty easy depending on how deep you want to go. If this will be just like from the factory you will have to run more wires. I know VMP for a while had fog light wiring kits~ with the stock button and all.

O'Rielly's should have them. If not, try Auto-Zone. And if worse comes to worse, order them from a ford dealer.

If you have a 99-04 model, I'd do this. If you have a 94-96, sometimes the v6 mustangs came with the fog light wiring. You may want to check into that if you have 94-96. Latemodel Restoration Supply has the fog light kit if you already have the wiring.

Re: Fog Lights

No problem man. I like the clear fogs better than the stock looking ones. The clear match the headlights on the 01-04's, and look way better when you smoke/tint them.

That's a pretty good price for the clear fogs and all the necessary parts.
Other places charge $249.00 for the kit with the regular stock fog lights.

Re: Fog Lights

Something to remember if you do get the fog lights with the brackets. Make sure you don't break the bottom clips on the brackets. One of the brackets I got had a broken bottom clip, and it made screwing the brackets in more difficult (I didn't take the bumper off to install them though). These clips allow the bracket itself to rest in place making it easier to screw in the other two top clips.

Re: Fog Lights

I recommend putting the car on Jack Stands once you get the bottom bolt screwed in. Get a good light source of some kind to help guide you to screwing in the other two upper bolts on each of the foglight brackets. This will save you time and a will help the installation process go much smoother.

Yah, don't be lazy like me and put it up on ramps in a dark garage and do 80% of it by feel rather than sight, doesn't work that well...

But thanks for that link man really apreciate it. I'll get some pics of the sexy clear lights once i get my sister's camera.

Re: Fog Lights

How do you guys feel about the yellow lense fog lights. I like them, but don't think the will look good with my car. Also I have poor visibility with my smoked headlights. I was wondering if anyone else has this problem that I assume is due to the tint? I'll probably go with some smoked fog light lenses, but maybe a HID kit should be on my list of things now that I can't see the road to well with my sylvania ultra stars, and yes I've adjusted them.

i was thinking of getting the headlight tints but someone told me it is really hard to see at night, so get a hid lightbulb. i didn't no what that was so i didn't get them lol. and i was told it was illegal too. and i've never seen the fog lights with yellow lenses.

Re: Fog Lights

Yea they are pretty hard to see out of, however the looks on a dark car is second to none, thus they are staying and I don't mind that I can't light up the road as I used, to but the HID, may be in my near future, that or just slap my old lights back in...who knows I'm indecisive...lol

Tinting out the lights on your car would look badass. My buddy has an 01 GT in zinc yellow (more of a dull yellow) with tinted tails and headlights, it really sets off the black rims and black accents. He says the visibility decreased a little bit, but hid's would solve that. Stangmods has the vinyl peel-on tint for the fog lights.

Re: Fog Lights

I've seen the yellow oem fog lights on a car online, and it looked odd. The yellow didn't match anything (it was on a red mustang), and I don't imagine it matching any yellow mustangs either. It would probably look decent on a true blue mustang (dark blue)...but I personally like the oem ones or the clear ones.

Have you heard anything about their HID kits at Stangmods? Price looks good for the 6000K kit and I hear that is all you really need. Thanks.

Re: Fog Lights

I haven't heard anything about the HID kits from them. I've heard good things about Stangmods. That isn't a bad price for the 6000k kit, it includes everything you need to install...may have to look into it when the wallet allows.

Re: Fog Lights

I have been wanting to install fog lights onto my '01 3.8L. Does anyone know if the wiring for the for lights would already be there? My "dummy switch" is down by the rear defrost and traction control by the shifter and there is a harness there. So could is be possible the wiring I need is already set up as plug-n-go?

I'd say not. You'll need the whole she-bang. Although, if you don't want to pay at least 50+ dollars for just the switch, I wouldn't even bother.

Re: Fog Lights

Well I found the switch for $20 and the lights for $40. And the wiring I can do, no problem. I was just hoping I wouldn't need to haha. I guess I'll have to do a scavanger hunt and see where I can attatch it.

Re: Fog Lights

Some of the 94-96 v6 mustangs came with the fog light wiring, but lacked the switch and lights/brackets. After that, the base mustangs didn't come with anything - wiring, brackets, nothing.

You really will save a ton of money if you can wire the fogs yourself, full kits with the harnesses sell anywhere from $150-200+.
