Camming a 3.8

has anybody thrown a new cam into their v6? when i rebuild i am planning on putting a tom morana cam, heavier springs, stronger pushrods, and new pistons. How effective are new cams in v6's? horsepower addition estimation for just the cam alone?

The cam alone is not going to net you that much. Do some work to make the cam work better (move the air in and out more efficiently) and the gains will be much greater.

Don't buy anything from Tom Morana, ever.

You're better off doing a split port swap, you'll see an instant 40hp.

Re: Camming a 3.8

yea instead of a rebuild you could buy a 99+ 3.8 for quite cheap, but you will need the fuel system and wiring setup and computer etc to make it all work

Re: Camming a 3.8

i dont rlly want to do a motor swap though, id rather do a rebuild that way i get a brand new motor basically, plus i would basically have to do a rebuild to put the new cam, springs, pistons, and rods in so theres not rlly much point in doin a motor swap.

wut is wong with doing tom morana parts?

Go to some of the v6 stang sites and mention his name and you'll find out. You're best bet is Tom at SSM.

I miss Mik. I'm pretty sure I got the last, if not the only stage 3 CNC big valve heads from him just before he quit.
