Idle problem

I have a new IAC ordered that I am going to pick up after work because of my idle problem. It sits at 500 rpm and when i turn on the A/c or turn the wheel the rpm's drop down below 500 and it seems like the car starts struggling. When I unplug the IAC it runs for a minute then dies, and wont even start with it unplugged. Does this sound like the IAC cause i really dont wanna have to spend 60 bucks for a new one if thats not it. BTW it isnt throwing codes anymore since I replaced the maf sensor.

Re: Idle problem

Sounds like it !!! Have you tried cleaning the IAC when you did the MAF

try this to determine if the IAC is bad, start engine, place in gear (drive, Reverse), turn A/C on, and operate the power steering pump (turn wheel slightly right or left). the rpms should increase slightly or remain steady, if it drops or stumbles then the IAC is bad and need to be replaced.

Re: Idle problem

Yes i have cleaned it but from my understand in doing research on them, cleaning them doesn't work in most cases and if it does it is short lived. Guess im going to buy a new one

Re: Idle problem

Put in the new iac and in park it will idle at about 600 but when I put into drive it drops down below 500 and jumps back up and sits at 500 again.

When i first installed the iac it seemed back to normal (idleing at about 750) but over time it went back to its old ways, is there a special way that i need to have the computer relearn an idle?
