Definitely not a dumb question...I want to do the same thing to mine. It can be done, but I'm sure it involves a somewhat expensive trip to the ford dealership to recalibrate and adjust for the change in speedos.
The only thing is that the v6 and v8's redline at different rpms. I guess it's not that big of an issue, but it will be different on the display.
If Ford didn't use stock tires that were limited to 115, a larger speedo would've probably been used, but it's one more thing to differentiate base models from v8 models.
Exactly, the v6 redlines at 5800 rpms where the GT keeps going.
