19Delta's M112 Build

Well, I figured it was time to go ahead and start asking around for input since I'm finally going to go through with it. I've got the blower, TB, Plenum, and injectors on standby as of now, but I'm more worried about rebuilding the bottom end of the engine to handle the extra power. Any advice/tips from others who've swapped (Ryan I know you'll chime in)?

Re: 19Delta's M112 Build

I'm running mine on a stock internals engine, all I've added is all the bolt ons and a ported lower.

You'll need a UDP, tuner, patience, the adapter, patience, vacuum hoses, patience, belt, and quite a few other things, but nothing crazy other than the adapter.

Re: 19Delta's M112 Build

Well, my sixer is got about 125k miles on it and it needs rebuilt to some extent. I thought maybe a new cam/ported lower or something of that nature. I finally got the hood pins in tonight after a fight with my fiberglass hood.

Re: 19Delta's M112 Build

Mine has 116k on it and it took it. Still waiting to get a tune for it, but I've been offshore the past few weeks and still haven't gone home.

The car's in Alabama right now and I'm 3 miles off the coast of Gulf Shores.

Re: 19Delta's M112 Build

Ok then, so it should be fine, I still would want to take ever precaution. What about intercooling/heat exchanging? How did you set that up, or did you leave it out? Also, where'd you get your adapter plate from? Did you fab it up or what?

LilRoush made my adapter, I'm not running any cooling.

It must be nice for someone to fab you up a plate. I was leaning towards the one from Morana racing.

Don't ever buy anything from Morana. Get ahold of Matt (LilRoush) he'll make you one. He designed the whole kit.

10-4, I was wondering, should I use the intercooler setup? I mean, does it really help that much?

Re: 19Delta's M112 Build

The intercooler setup would be awesome, problem is it will not fit on the car with the intercooler attached without sticking up another 6 inches. The lower intakes, even custom ones, are not designed for this thing to fit.

Re: 19Delta's M112 Build

I would definatly replace the main bearings. I'll suggest getting forged pistons h-beam rods and a stronger crank. It may work stock for some but if i was putting all that money in it i would make it bulletproof.

Go to Super Six Motorsports and you can get a forged rotating assembly for around $1800

I would do that and get the pistons .020 over and bore the block

Ok, I'll check out the forged internals. I'm not going to bore it over, though.

Re: 19Delta's M112 Build

It's not much to have it bored out and it really improves a lot, just make sure if you order the rotating assembly, that you keep the compression low for boost.

Re: 19Delta's M112 Build

there are kits, Mysteed (3.8mustang.com), Lilroush, and a few others make them. Research and go with the best. You REALLY need to intercool this setup as the Eaton is EXTREMELY hot when its in boost.... but there isnt a viable solution yet to make this a reality.

Re: 19Delta's M112 Build

At this point, nobody has had issues with the heat. Yes it gets high and the tune has to work with it, but no damage has been suffered yet. Just make sure you don't touch the Eaton for about 30 minutes after the car is shut off, it's friggin hot!

Re: 19Delta's M112 Build

no damage sure as long as you keep it in check, but heat kills hp/tq... you would make MUCH better numbers with a cooler charge. I am just not sure how you would go about fabricating an inter cooler with such limited room.

I don't want a huge amount of power, as anything from 250-275 would work for me.

Re: 19Delta's M112 Build

Yeah, because the M112 is over sized for the 3.8L motor, there are no heat issues. I wish people would get off the train. Many of us have daily driven and track pushed the cars with the set up and have never had issues with heat.

Morana's is a RIP OFF of mine. It's never been really made (other than the mock up for his pic on the website), never been tested, never been run. If you do some forum searching, we've picked apart all the issues it's got already just based on pics. It won't work at all and it's over priced... not that you'd ever get a part from him after you pay your money.

Re: 19Delta's M112 Build

i am on the anti heat train..we(you guys 3.8, my 4.0) are spinning the blower MUCH slower than the lightning people (i say lightning cause im in the truck stuff)...not quite sure how fast the cobras spin..

but the lightnings spin up over 20,000rpm im pretty sure (and they have a intercooler, and somewhere near intake temps of...i dont really want to guess here, but like 120???)

and with the 2.8 pulley on my truck i spin it just about 14,000 rpm

i made 281/314 at the wheel with 125degree intake temps ON THE DYNO, yess i gets alot hotter than that when the hood is closed...and that was with no cooling..but yaa i think 275 is well in range even without cooling...

Well like I said before, I'm just getting all the info I can before I actually start. I'm still a few weeks from actually starting on it so yeah.

and i completely agree with getting all the knowledge before you start..thats the way i did it,and probably the best way..better than doing it and finding out its done "wrong"

Ok, starting probably the 23rd or 24th, I'll be working on this some. After I get the parts from Brad we'll see where we stand. I still need to get a walbro fuel pump though.

A 310lph Focus pump is a good cheap part to go with for supplying the fuel.

Re: 19Delta's M112 Build

sup dude, yeah, I'd look into building your bottom end. I've got a supercharged V6 as well and the amount of boost I'm making, I'm having to look at bullet proof guts as my next step. I'm very familiar with SuperSix. Tom knows his **** and knows it really well. He and Joe Beegle at DynoSpeed outta memphis are my two go to guys.

$1800 is a bit steep. If I've got my info straight, you can find forged guts in Ford Thunderbird Super Coupes (both turbo and supercharged itterations) for probably cheaper, I priced them new through O'Reily's and Advanced, $600, pistons, crank, and conn rods. But, just a suggestion. Aight dude, my 2 cents.

Re: 19Delta's M112 Build

Long time coming. Bought the M112 with the 2.8 pulley, tb, plenum, boost bypass, intake adapter, 90mm MAF, intake and a 310lp focus pump. All of it should be arriving sometime this week. Now I've just got to look into getting a few more parts and I'll be ready to tear my engine down to put some forged guts into it.

You're telling me, haha. I might look into the forged Super Coupe internals if they'll work. I've already been in contact with Tom at super six and I'll be getting a few things from him as well.

Just buy a bottom end from a super coupe, make sure its not a pos, decide if you want to have anything freshened up and go from their.

if you are going to do it... do it right. Buy better forged internals spend a little extra and get more in the end unless the supercoupe had amazing forged internals which I doubt.
