How to launch on a 1999 v6 w/ 4.10 gears

I am going to the track this saturday, but I've been practicing launching but I am not sure if I'm doing it right, as long as i get no wheel spin is it okay? Am i suppose to like launch real fast? Like i said, i have 4.10 gears and t-loc, if anyone else has the same set up, and what rpms do you all launch at. btw it's a manual.

It will depend on several factors.

The track conditions and your tires. You will just have to experiment to see what works best. Go off idle the first time and then just launch higher each time until you find out what works best.

5spd or auto?

a little peel is ok.. at least its better than bogging. if a manual, let out the clutch a little slower than you are probably doing now. this will help gradually increase the power to the wheels over a 1/2 second instead of all of it at once. don't forget to avoid that waterbox!

if you have an auto... just hold the brake rev till your tires start to spin and hold it right before that, let off the brake and get on the gas... thats all you can do. For a manual try to get off the line with just a little bit of wheel spin, just enough to know that anymore would be to much and you would spin the tires bad, try to let the front end of the car raise up before you go full throttle. I would start my rpms at 2200 rpms and if you bog go higher else go lower.

water box is the area they spray water on that people go though to get their tires wet so they can do a burn out, slicks dont have as easy of a time doing burn outs as street tires . If you dont have slicks then DO NOT go into the water box. Usually you have to back into it or drive though it, you should be able to go around it.

yes, and if you do have to drive through it, spin your tires a second to get the water off of them, and then do it a second time before staging because the water will have started dripping from the top of your fenderwell onto your tires.
