Exclamation GT REAR BUMPER?

I have just purchased my dual exhaust system for my 2000 v6... Cant wait till i get it installed!

The kit comes with guides on how to make the cutouts on the bumper but i have heard a lot of ppl say its not worth cuttin and would rather buy a gt bumper. Well the kit was expensive and i can not afford the bumper right now... So maybe cutting the holes for now would b a good thing?

Does anyone know where i can find a cheap gt bumper?

Thanks!

Re: GT REAR BUMPER?

A local junk yard would be your best bet for cheap. Or someone parting out a junker on craigslist or something. New the cheapest you will probably find it is for 231.58 through a guy local here...or through a guy I know online...but you would then have to pay shipping.

Re: GT REAR BUMPER?

That is brand new..unpainted. Full retail is 250 something...it's just the two sources I mention sell for 10% over cost on all ford parts. but it's obvious there isn't much markup on bumpers.

Re: GT REAR BUMPER?

Keystone has the GT rear bumpers for around $180 and they don't have "MUSTANG" in the bumper. That's where mine came from and it actually fits better than stock.

Re: GT REAR BUMPER?

you can modify the hangers to lower them down to clear the stock bumper until you can buy a GT rear if you want.

Re: GT REAR BUMPER?

I READ ON A POST THAT SOMEONE SAID AN "X" PIPE ISNT NEEDED FOR A V6 BECAUSE IT HAS EVEN SOMETHING.

I HAVE ASKED AND DONE SOME RESEARCH AND AN "X" PIPE WILL STILL BE GOOD FOR V6s.

DO YOU GUYS THINK THAT A CATTED X PIPE IS A WASTE? I PURCHASED IT TODAY, PLEASE DONT TELL ME ITS A WASTE =(

WHAT DO YOU GUYS THINK?

Re: GT REAR BUMPER?

No, definitely not...now you're still emissions legal because you have cats. I don't know how strict Virginia is, but it's better safe than sorry. Plus, v6's don't exactly sound the greatest with an o/r x or h pipe anyways. They get really raspy and loud = annoying. Basically the equivalent to a pissed off neon...that's no good

In all reality, a mid-pipe like an x or h pipe isn't necessary since the v6 engines are even firing engines...but they are a lot better than the stock y-pipe.

What system did you decide to go with?

Re: GT REAR BUMPER?

Nice...I have the same setup with the exception of the x-pipe...if I remember right, I got two sets of hangars with my system. One set was for the stock bumper (which worked nicely) and a second set that I used when I got my GT bumper.

Who'd you order the system from?

id like to do as spectorv said... Have the exhaust clear the bumper and when i have money get the gt bumper that has "mustang" on it. The other one is a good price, thanks for the link! But id like it so say "mustang" on it.

Having the exhaust tips clear the bumper is good for now, doenst look that bad at all!
ill post pics whenever i get it installed!

Any tips?

Re: GT REAR BUMPER?

I am taking my time to do my dual exhaust conversion. I bought a stock catback with flowmaster 40's for 60 dollars and I found a guy who is selling his GT rear bumper for 100 dollars on Craigslist. Still have to get it sand blasted and painted but when its done it will be worth it. Take your time and don't rush it and you will be happy with the outcome.

Re: GT REAR BUMPER?

Sanding sucks, it was ok until I had to do it to my front bumper. Good luck.
