Exclamation Dual exhaust installed!

So today i finally installed my exhaust. I was at the damn shop for like 20 million hours because a family friend said he could help me install it at his shop. He is the one that gave me some money to get my rims so i knew he wouldnt screw me up. Plus he was gonna charge me way cheaper!

We had sooo many problems but the exhaust ended up gettin installed. The bad thing is that the tips arent both straight. One is the other isnt... So i called some guy i know works on exhausts and he said he would take a look at it tomorrow and try to fix it.

Sounds sexy! Specially when i floor it - same at idle, sounds nice!
The only problem is that one tip that looks crooked - and i am a prefectionist =/

arggghhh im kinda disspointed.

Re: Dual exhaust installed!

Yah dude, those mufflers should definitely be up higher and straight.

When I had the base bumper and those tips I had them pretty close to the edge of the bumper, sort of like the 94-98 style exhaust on the GT's and Cobras.

Keep in mind this is an old and terrible pic of the car

Could the bumper melt if the tip is too close?

Re: Dual exhaust installed!

Yah, you'll have that sometimes...especially when you do it yourself. My system was a couple inches too long, so where the stock y-pipe met the new piping, the new piping was angled down to fit. I brought it to my mechanic and he cut the extra piping and it fit perfectly.

**** like that just happens with these pre made "bolt on" systems.
Did you get two different size hangars for the tips?

No I don't believe it will...I've never had any issues with the tips. I know a lot of people that have their tips the same way and they haven't had any problems either.

Eh, it'll work out fine man...it can be frustrating, but it's worth it in the end.

How do you like the sound? Does it have a nice deep idle?

Yeah I love the idle. I've heard magnaflows and flowmasters at idle and they weren't as deep as the pypes. Just wait until a nice 50 degree morning...**** sounds like a stock v8...nice low burble

It doesn't look horrible...I'd definitely try to get the tips fixed, since they're really the only visible part of the exhaust.

Before I had the GT bumper, one of my tips' weld broke and it was hanging down for a little while...luckily Pypes sent me two new tips for free with a much better weld...they've held up great since.

Re: Dual exhaust installed!

get a GT rear bumper and then it should all fit just fine, you having to push the tips down since you have no cut outs messes the whole system up

you should have about a half inch from tip to bumper

if your friend welded on hangers then thats bad, the exhaust should have all the hangers you need (should reuse stock ones which you may not have since its not a GT but they are cheap)

Re: Dual exhaust installed!

I WENT TO A SHOP AND THEY DIDNT SEEM THEY KNEW, THE GUY TOLD ME TO COME BACK MONDAY BECAUSE HE NEEDED SOME EXHAUST PIPES AND WHAT NOT. SO I SAID SCREW HIM, HE WAS CHARGIN 90 AN HOUR AND HE DIDNT KNOW HOW LONG IT WOULD TAKE. DIDNT SEEM PROFESSIONAL AND I DIDNT WANNA MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE AGAIN.

I REMEMBERED "MIDAS" FROM A COMMERCIAL AND HOW THEY SPECIALIZE IN EXHAUST SO I WENT TO A BIG MIDAS AROUND HERE - THE GUY LOOKED AT IT AND FOUND A LEAK BY THE CAT. THEY ACTUALLY KNEW THEIR EXHAUST STUFF. THE OTHER GUY HAD LIFTED MY CAR AND DIDNT FIND ****.

SO I LEFT MY CAR THERE HE SAID 200 AND THEY WOULD TAKE IT ALL APART AND PUT IT BACK TOGETHER CORRECTLY. ILL PICK IT UP TOMORROW AND LET YOU GUYS KNOW HOW IT GOES!

HOPE IT ALL GOES FINE
MY BABY AND I DONT DESERVE THIS. LOL

NO JOKE.

Re: Dual exhaust installed!

well you can cut holes in your stock rear for now to get you to a time when you can buy a gt rear~ you need the hangers and you fab up a hole bit on a drill and use the hanger to position the tips and rill it out

Re: Dual exhaust installed!

I wonder if your tips were angled down because the rest of your system wasn't hanging correctly. When I installed my system, the piping and mufflers were straight and tight to the underbody, and the tips were coming straight out under the bumper...and I used the hangars that came with the kit...they didn't angle down or sit crooked at all.

all you do is loosen your catback *do not remove* then lift the tails until it fits then tighten the catback.

Re: Dual exhaust installed!

It does look better than before. That right tip is still hanging lower than the left.

I'm just surprised that the kit didn't come with different hangars, they would solve the tip issue even with the stock bumper...either way, it still sounds and looks good, glad you got it straightened out

Re: Dual exhaust installed!

Thank you!

So u think it looks okay? it doesnt look bad does it? at least i didnt think it looks bad.

im a bit self conscious bout this one...

also, im not too sure whether the tips will be able to be brought up higher because of the pipe that goes over the rear axle...

Re: Dual exhaust installed!

Well, if you get tired of the tips sitting the way they do, you could always take them off and buy turndown tips and put them on just after the axle. This way you wouldn't need a GT bumper and sound will be deeper.
