Re: Superchargers

whats up. I have a Supercharged V6 mustang. I have a Procharger P-1SC. As of yet I'm dynoed at about 264rwhp. I also have the following mods:

BBK shortie headers
BBK 65mm throttle body
Ford Racing aluminum driveshaft
Motive Gear 3:73 gears
SCT tuned automatic transmission(4R70W)
Bosch 39lb injectors
KYB Adjust. shocks
Jegs Cat back exhuast
SVT Focus fuel pump

So to answer your question. Its not complicated at all. Its not really all that expensive($3500 is what I paid at the time to my door). I'd recommend Procharger. They make great systems, you make amazing amounts of power of them, reliable as well. Just all around good systems. Two mustang tuners that would be rather "go to" would be Dynospeed racing out to memphis, tn. and Super Six Motorsports out of ga. They both know their stuff and know it really well. If you have any questions or concerns I'd be glad to converse with you.

Re: Superchargers

MANY have, there are some badass v6's out there 700+ hp. Its just about money and how much you want to spend.

Expect about 5-6k to get your car supercharged and running. The end result will be going from about 150rwhp to 280-300rwhp so about double. But... you have to remember when you do major modifications if this is your daily driver it may break, and you will have down time and be in need of other transportation. Thats just how modifying a car works when it comes to major mods.

Re: Superchargers

I agree with spector V, itll run you about 5-6K.
I have a procharger as well, with intercooler, bbk throttle body
05 V8 fuel pump, 4:10 gears, Tlock, Long tube headers, Xpipe
Flowmaster super 40s.
im sure i left a mod or 2 out but JUST the procharger with install alone was about 6 grand.

my car is making approximatly 330 rwhp, it was higher on my last tune but not safe....ive had the A/F ratio lowered.

prochargers are good, but not great, there fit is always cutting close corners, i do like them better then vortex, however it it was possible i would say go for a root style supercharger.....but i dont think there are any for the v6's.

are there??

Re: Superchargers

well the thunderbird supercoupe was a roots style charger but it comes to the roots style there not he best because of heat issues it does sit on the top of your engine and heat rises

Re: Superchargers

there are no direct bolt on root style supercharges on the market for the 3.8L, I think there is one for the 4.0L. By market I mean released via a company. There are a handful of people that make custom kits for the 3.8/3.9L mustang. These are NOT intercooled and if you ask me... thats not good as the temps are just to high for me to feel good about them.

For the money you would invest in a procharger you could sell your car and buy a GT but... a gt only has about 230rwhp-240rwhp stock... so you would not have as much as the V6 and a blower... its all a matter of the route you want to go.

Re: Superchargers

its not the best answer just one way to think about it, sure the v8 will be slower stock but its pretty easy to speed up~ well kinda easy I guess

The nice thing is that the market is still to the buyer's advantage used car wise. You could get a 98, 99, or 01 cobra with 30-50k miles for the same price as an 03/04 GT. At least this way your getting a decent starting platform, plus the 32v 4 cam. If I decided to get rid of my v6, I'd probably go in that direction, maybe a mach 1.

L-O-L. There are plenty of stock bottom end V6's with power adders. Myself for one example. 12 PSI for around 4 years now, still running strong and just now getting an opportunity to start working on it again. Stock for stock, the 3.8 can handle more psi than the 4.6 can. Of course you get more out of a FI 4.6 than a FI 3.8, but that has nothing to do with the ability of the block to handle the pressure.
