Manual Tranny that will hold about 400 to the wheels....

If I can get a tranny that will hold about that much hp without any fear of it breaking AND a spec stage 2 clutch AND everything I need for the swap from my auto for about 1400 dollars I will do the swap.

What are we talking price wise for jus tthe tranny that will meet the requirements above?

lol that transmission is 200 dollars more than my total budget for the entire swap so it looks like brent stays with a beefed up Auto.

beefed up autos are

my c4 can handle 750-800hp, not saying im even going to come close to that but its a nice lil comfort barrier

(and im not trying to start a auto vs manual debate again...its dead and over)

you going to be putting money into a tranny, yours will not hold up long to the new power plan unless you really take it easy on it.

A stock GOOD condition t5 will take ALOT of abuse and will be fine unless you take it to the track ALOT, if you want added security you will have to step it up... Gforce makes a good tranny.

Bens tranny is taking 300rwhp or more and its got a TON of miles 120k or so its still pretty good so they can take it IF you get a good one and not a POS.

The stock A833 can handle 400+ HP not matter how hard you beat on it.

But it is an old school 4 speed made by Chrysler. They did make a few Ford and Chevy specific applications. I got three of them in the store room, all MoPar versions though. It is, however, a real manual that is not as buttery smooth to shift as today's weenie transmissions, but it is very, very stout. It's also all cast iron, except for the late OD versions. It is a side shifter, too. Probably be a real bear to put into a later Stang though.

dont mess with that, get a good 99+ t-5 and use a tail shaft from an older one to go back to speedo gear, get an older one with a gear already in it, get a tremec tko (go for 1400~), or a Gforce t5 (more than your budget i do belive but maybe not)

Too much money and trouble for the swap. I'll just spend 1300-1400 and get the same thing out of my auto.

its the same as all the other 6 speeds to my knowledge, perhaps a hydrolic clutch link up but im sure that can be altered. The only advantage is its .50 final drive... a normal ford cobra 6 speed sucks for ratios... the final drive is like .62... wtf is that.... I belive the camaro's also share the .50 final drive but not sure on that... either way its a waste of money just upgrade to a 5 speed unless you are a HARD CORE autox'er else you are just slowing yoru car down (as far as the ford gear ratios go, not sure about the others... but that sucker is heavy)

Like Brandon said, a stock T5 will hold 400 horsepower depending on how it's driven. Don't expect to be powershifting though and pray you don't miss a gear. If it's just going to be a daily driver with the occasional speed shifting, it should be okay though.

The only way you'll be able to get a stouter tranny with that budget will be to buy one used.
