another 4.2 question

so this summer im serious about this 4.2 swap but need more info... all i need is a crank pistons rods ? but will the 4.2 forged pistons be the same width(diameter) as the 3.8? Also what would a forged crank heads rods... plus cam intakes rr push rods springs cost.. the total rebuild? If im going into the engine shouldnt ido it all the first time?

constact rpm-mustangs.com for cost's. i believe you only get bigger pistons if you bore out the engine, the stroke is really just the crank shaft.

You need:

4.2l Crankshaft
Pistons
Rods
Cam
Heads (depends on how much you want to pay.. you can go big valve or not)
Adjustable Roller Rockers 1.7
New Springs
Pushrods
Lower Intake
Upper Intake

Crankshaft Bearings
Cam Bearings
Rod Bearings

Rpm can get you every gasket you need for the swap.

You can order the pistons to any engine bore. Which means yes the pistons you get will fit your stock bore.

However if you are going to go to this trouble I would just take the engine out, tear it down, bore the block .030 over and order pistons to match it. This will insure a good clean block and a bit more displacement.

However you can stay with the stock bore.

The 4.2l crank is not forged but can handle a ton of power.

As for cost email sales@rpm-mustangs.com to inquire.

It will be around 2500-3000 dollars for everything you would need, that is what I would guess.

Heres what im thinking.... RPM 4.2 stroker....INCLUDES
clevite 77 pistons
OEM 6.091" connecting rods
clevite77 moly top piston rings
clevite 77 main & rod bearings
New 4.2 crankshaft
rotating assembly balanced
stock balancer & flywheel/flexplate
+$420.00 forged split port dish

= $1500 after core charges excluded

Next i will need Camshaft kit... including
intake manifold-timing gaskets
12push rods
pedestal shims
custom cam
=$350.00

Next roller rockers
1.73:1
+$255.00

Next upper and lower intakes....
=$400.00

Next halfshafted throttle body 65mm
=$150.00

Is this everything excluding a few studs? ... this was taken from RPM site... is there anything else i would need- also this seems like more than i can afford all at once if someone was do to the complete engine rebuild in stages what would you do? Total $=2655.00
sounds nice but i still need to drop tons on suspension and rear.. however now i have a goal and have an idea what too look for in the future..thanks for all help

get forged rods, not OEM rods. in an engine pushing a lot of power, the first thing to go is the weakest link. in this case, OEM rods

What about me? I think you should rephrase that. As far as I know I'm the only one selling 4.2 conversion kits that actually has done it. So when you need any info on a 4.2 Kit, contact me!!!

Mik runs a very good bussiness, and some of his past customers trust only him. But we are not saying all others suck, you guys must be doing something right to get that green stang in the 10's

I will be quite honest here. Nobody is bashing anyone here. I have said in my post both Mik@RPM and SSM are great companies. But as a site we do promote good standing sponsors and RPM is one of the best V6 companies around. For that we need not apologize. SSM can come in at anytime and advertise. Hell at next UMC Track day they can also help ME sponsor the V6 shootout. VMP and Fordchip did last year.

There is no hate for any quality companies and there is business to go around!!!

We are all friends here and lets be decent!!!
