the easiest thing to do is just go to a local exhaust shop, and ask them to let you know next time they cut catback exhaust off of a 99-04 Mustang GT. That's the easiest route.

I have GT Takeoffs on my 99 v6, and I love it. Of course, I haven't even broken into the engine at all yet. It's really up to you.

I have sound clips and a video in my garage. Click on my postbit to the left.

like nick said the easiest thing would be buying GT Take offs and having mufflers welded in that way your whole system is SS without the high price of a lead name brand or for a good deal you can have a shop fab up a kit for you and just bring your mufflers of choice, i personally prefer mac which i have ill get a few new clips up once im done fixing my car 100% the y pipe kit alone from them which i got for 299 shipped sounds good as it is its deep and not too ricey uptop but its a v6 so theres not much you can do about the sound up in the higher rpms. but if your on a budget and/or wanna save $ do gt take offs or have somebody fab up pipes and just buy mufflers also dont worry if you feel a loss down low after exhaust you gain some uptop, the best way to get some power back down low is UDP

Another great way to go about it is to buy a GT cat back, someone is selling one on the board right now for 100 bucks. This way its alot easier to get her put on. You will use the oem gt mufflers for a bit, you can determine if this is enough for you sound wise.

There is no major performance gain to be had... you wont really even feel anything, its mainly for sound and future mods.

If you need more sound you can just have flowmasters or what ever muffler welded in, the best sounding v6 is a low tone and mellow toned car.. when they get loud they sound like crap so loud does not equal good.

You can have a dual exhaust adaptor kit put on, they run 75 bucks~ They are good for many reasons the main one being that you can unbolt the exhasut, it wont be welded on as it would if you did not get the adaptor. If you cant unbolt it, it can be alot of trouble working on the car...

I'm with everyone else, get some takeoff's. I have mach1 takeoff's, paid 50 bucks for them, and I absolutely love the sound, not going with another muffler, just right for me.

Flowmaster = gagmaster. Get flow through exhaust. I have Magnaflow Magnapacks, and I really love them. I do not have good exhaust clips up right now, but when I do my burn outs, that should get some exhaust stuff in there too. I had a muffler shop build my exhaust specific to my car, and I really like it. It looks awesome, and only cost me $50 each tail pipe, installed.

I'm not saying they don't sound good... just flow through are typically better for hp

get whatever sounds good. You'll see maybe 5hp by going to a compelte flow-through muffler as opposed to something like a Flowmaster of Mac...but you'll sound like complete ***.

IMO a decent and somewhat enjoyable sounding car is worth 5hp to me.

I disagree with this somewhat. If you are after louder than hell you dont want flow thru mufflers on a stock V6

Here is a rule of thumb

Wheezy *** stock 99+ V6's need all the help they can get. Chambered like MAC Flowpath, Dynomax SuperTurbos and Flowmasters sound much more agressive

94-98 V6's have a more agressive sound stock so you can get a mean sound out of flow thru mufflers especially at WOT. When I was stock I had flowmasters on my car and ditched them after 3 days because of the drone and installed Dynomax ultraflows and everyone seemed to share my opinion they were great.

Your choice Do you want wake the dead, a sleeper or something in between.

put some real mods on a car with flow's and they won't drone anymore...

and choosing mufflers for 5hp that you may or may-not even see is a waste of money IMHO...get something that sounds good and you will be much happier than those crappy sounding mufflers that you may or may not be faster because of.

Magnaflows, Dynomax Ultraflows and Borla are not crappy mufflers

If you are saying my car is crappy you are misguided. Magnaflow and Ultraflows do not sound crappy just not as loudon stock stangs. Loud is not fast. 99+ I will admit sound weak with them compared to a 94-98 but they dont sound crappy. I am not sure what all you have heard but I have yet to hear crappy Magnaflows or ultraflows. Nothing crappier than a loud as slow car with not meat to back up the sound. That is just rice in my opinion and many agree with me!!!

Please either post soundclips of the crappy sounding magnaflows or ultraflows or your opinion it moot!!!!

i like my setup. check my garage to see it. unlike the flows, it doesn't sound ricey in higher RPMs because engine tone takes over after around 2400rpms. unfortunately my P/S pump keeps goin out on me.....so all i hear half the time is its whine.

I have glasspacks and I don't think that they sound bad at all of course I am also not a stock V6. But it does get a little ricey as you get up to the higher RPM's but sounds a lot better in the lower and if you get a good cam and so on you will have an even better sound
