Hardcore Weight Reduction

Well I decided I was hardcore enough to completely delete the AC and heat from my car. The amount of junk that makes up the entire air conditioning system is insane! I had already deleted everything in the engine bay previously. This stage involved deleting everything behind the dash.

Removing the dash was a pain but not too bad. I think on a stock car it would be a piece of cake but for us racers that have added miles of wiring under there for gauges, line locks, nitrous, lights, etc.. its a mess.

I was able to remove the entire air handling unit, heater core, coolant lines, air ducts, controls, etc.. Total weight removed behind the dash was 30 pounds plus or minus a few. If I added the weight of the engine bay stuff which was already deleted total prolly would have been closer to 60.
