Got my Car Dyno'ed

Information:
1998 V6 Mustang (232ci)
115,647 Miles at time of test
Original engine build (not rebuilt)
Manual Transmission (stock)
Stock Gears
16" Premuim wheels (GT base wheels)

Engine Modifications:
eBay Cold Air induction
3/8" Phenolic spacers, Manifold and TB with appropriate EGR extention
ASP 25% Underdrive Pulley
2001 GT-Takeoff True Dual Exhaust

Dyno Numbers with 5000 RPM Redline limit:
136.4 RWHP
200.5 Torque

The Dyno Day at ST Motorsports in San Bernardino was an imformitive day indeed. I've never had my car Dynoed, let alone been to a shop that had a dyno. The dyno Day had roughly 40 SRT-4's and about 9 Mustangs, mine being the only V6.

I was happy with the ammount of Torque, but I was hoping for at least 145 RWHP. Well, I'm about 10 HP shy of it. Oh well. It gives me a base line for when I put my chip in. Other V6 1998's have dynoed within 5 hp/tq with the same modifications.

Just like an other GT takeoff exhaust, yes. It was welded on at a local muffler shop.

that's what I thought. Guess he could have had different tips put on. I have 00 takeoffs, and they were a little short for my car.

Kinda sad though isn't it?

I'm serriously thinking about a Split port swap at the moment.

Ya, it's nice having the 4.2 It's amazing that my car dyno'd that low and is as high as it is now. Pretty impressive if you ask me. I personally wouldn't go the split port route, I think it's more trouble to install than it's worth. The single port design is not that bad, the only real major flaw is the tiny upper plenum. Their is one other flaw in the heads, but i'm not going to get technical. You can make your own upper or buy an aftermarket one and you'll be golden. The split port design nets the 40+ hp by design and by the size of the TB. If you port your heads and intakes well enough, you can use a 60mm TB also and see a major increase in hp as well.

I have an EXTRA set of manifolds sitting in my tool box. What and where would you suggest?

WhiteStang99, any 99-04 GT takeoff exhaust can fit a 94-98, the length doesn't change THAt much between the years

I'll do them for you nice and cheap if you want. $125 for each one and you pay shipping both ways. So I would make it an even $300. I'll gasket match them, and port the upper to a 60mm opening. I have an extra set of heads in my garage too if you're interested in those. PM me or e-mail me if you're interested.

I also have a 3/8" spacer that will have to be matched as well. Is it possible for you to port that to the same size as well?

Re: Got my Car Dyno'ed

Ok guys, I finally got around to uploading the video. Want to laugh your head off at a V6 on the dyno, here's your chance. Count how many minutes it takes to get to 5000 RPM

50 megs uncompressed (couldnt compress it, sorry)

Re: Got my Car Dyno'ed

definatly stick with the single port... its not like you have any massive hp adding mods

Cold Air induction 5/3~ hp/tq
3/8" Phenolic spacers ?/? hp/tq
ASP 25% Underdrive Pulley 7/7 hp/tq
2001 GT-Takeoff True Dual Exhaust 5/5 hp/tq

so thats not alot over stock... your about where you should be, keep in mind every dyno reads high/low so you have to use it as more of a comparison than what you are EXACTLY putting to the wheels.

After heads/cam/intakes and a tune you will be very happy i bet.

Re: Got my Car Dyno'ed

so with that short list you were almost able to turn your wheel HP into nearly the same numbers as your stock crank HP.

sweet.
