got my tri-ax installed

Hey, got my steeda tri-ax installed for my 02 V6! Went pretty smoothly. Did it myself, of course. ONe little question about the stop bolts. I adjusted them like it said and just to be safe I left a little extra space between the stop bolt and the shifter. Anway, ehy were a ***** to get at so I tightened them enough so that I can't turn them with my fingers....think thats good enough?

Also, when I took my old stock shifter off, there was a little bit of red fluid in the box looking thingy the shifter goes on. Figured it was tranny fluid and it was normal to have a little bit there...that cool?

TOok it for a test drive and it went great. I bought it from shiftergaskets.com . the guy included a set of gaskets so I didn't have to use the messy gasket maker stuff.....pretty good if you ask me. I didn't notice any extra noise so I'm totally happy with it

James.

the bump stopes are not needed on your car, i would either remove them or make sure they are very snug.

Why are bump stops not needed? It is my understanding they help prevent you from horsing it into gear and bending the shift fork...amoung other things I know. But, they are a nice safe guard from not pushing too hard in the heat of a race and bending something.

But, I would say snug them down.

that is what they do... but if you shift the car hard enough to mess a shift fork up ... then you need to learn how to drive lol.

and shift forks dont bend, they break

its a back up precaution, thats not needed if you drive normally. Just leave a little extra gap, cuz having them to close is a bad bad thing.

During the heat of a race when the adrenaline is pumping, it can be very easy to horse it too hard and bend something...it is a nice backup to have when the blood gets flowing.

and forks to bend, my friends back in ny was bent in his camaro....

I will have to see if I can get the pic from my neighbor. His was bent. Wasn't busted. Bent. You couldn't shift into reverse properly. It would go in reverse, then pop out as you backed up. You had to put constant pressure on the shifter to hold it in reverse...and even then it would sometimes pop out. He replaced the fork...reverse issue fixed.

The pic is of the old fork next to the new fork. You can see the difference.
