Exhaust Redone

I had the exhaust redone. I removed the Borla Mufflers and now just run straight pipe. The exhaust still runs out the side. Sounds so much meaner. I included the before and after sound clips. sorry for the poor quality I used my G1 to make both videos

Borla Mufflers

No Mufflers

Re: Exhaust Redone

Yeah its very loud. this is the sound i wanted from the get go. I may put in 12in hush power or glass pack later. But for now I love the dirty looks I get from the import guys.

Re: Exhaust Redone

Yeah it's definitely louder than the Borlas, but doesn't it get nasty above 2k?

No its nice and deep and loud. the car sounds pissed off.

I went to the same muffler place ive been going to for years. I told him i wanted magna packs. he said lets do straight pipe first. if you dont like it i'll put in some glass packs or hush powers or the magna packs like you want.

well he finished his work i took the stang for a spin and it was perfect. again it is really loud now.Super agressive. I may have to add some sort small resonator to tone it down a bit. I do live in CA and he have supid laws about exhaust.

Agian super pleased with the results.

Re: Exhaust Redone

do you have an h or x pipe? i did this on my 4.0 with divorced duals and it sounded worse than a civic si... i think the x pipe would have helped, i now have dual out the back with x pipe and no mufflers and it sounds awesome... although this vid is before they were broken in so its a little raspy

Re: Exhaust Redone

make sure it doesnt rub on the side skirt, it looks a bit to close, usuall you want a good .5 inch between pipe and paint~

Re: Exhaust Redone

I never had any issues with rubbing on the body. I think there might be a .25in clearence between pipe and paint. I have scraped the bottom pipe and mufflers before.

My current exhaust set up

BBK Shorty Headers
Stock Cats (getting high flow's next year)
X-Pipe
2.5in Straight pipe.
Borla Tips

I am still thinking about getting the shorty Hushpower II or even a set of 10 series Flowmaster raceing muffler to tone it down a bit. It's a tight fit under there with the way the pipes bend its just trying toi get something that fits. It sounds great to me, but it is very loud and I have gotten a few complaints from my neighbors. Plus the mufflers will help regain the back pressure and tourqe I lost.
