Re: 2004 3.9L

That guide is a good starter. To actually beat v8's you're going to need patience, money and time. Our car's have much potential and can be very fun to mod and drive. Usually the quickest way to serious power (hence "beating v8's) is through engine building (stroker kit, beefier internals) or a power adder (supercharger or turbo).

Re: 2004 3.9L

SCT, they both do the same, but this has more features. But I think everyone would agree that a tuner is the lat thing on the list. engine/exhaust upgrades are first priority for power.

Re: 2004 3.9L

Yes this is true, the bolt ons will be more effective when combined with a tune.
The tuner alone will free up some hp and tq, as well as wake up your transmission if you're an auto...it is a wise investment either way.

Re: 2004 3.9L

You're safe with either one - SCT XCal3 or Diablosport Predator. Justin at VMP Tuning does an excellent job on v6's...VMP Tuning uses SCT. A custom tune is the way to go. Don't buy a pre-loaded tuner, they aren't any good. Get a custom tune through a place like VMP Tuning or a dyno tune at a trustworthy, reputable shop.
