Ok made up my mind... going to swap for a manual and need input

I need a complete part list that I am going to need.

It will be a T-5 and more than likely be bought used.

Other than the tranny what will I need? I have a bellhousing for a T-5 already... I assume it fits any kind right?

Other than the tranny and bellhousing what am I looking at?

It would be nice if links to where I can purchase it would be provided.
Items listed so far

Shifter
T-5
Pedal Assembly
Clutch Pressure Plate
Clutch Disk
Throw Out Bearing
Pilot Bearing
Reburn Chip for it
Clutch Cable and Assembly
Wiring Harness
Flywheel
Bellhousing
Throw Out Bearing Retainer

Where to get these items:

Quadrant, Clutch Cable and Firewall Adjuster

i belive it will work with any t-5 (your bellshousing) glad you are comming over to the fun side of the fence You need quite a bit, mainly wiring harness, tranny, clutch pressure plate, clutch disk, throw out bearing, pilot bearing, flywheel, manual tranny computer/chip to change settings, couple other this and thats.... there was a full kit available maybe you could get an itemized statement to what they include. If you buy used get a pre 99, and get a GOOD one.

No one has said pedal assemblies. You will look kind of foolish with a manual tranny and no clutch pedal !!!!! DOOOOOOOOOOOH!!!

i guess the gas pedal is re-usable, so a clutch and brake. or just upgrade to a whole new set of like bullitts or something.

guessing you have gears and such already? maybe get a new set and an installation kit so everything in your rear is fresh. and if you have the money go ahead and get a stage 2 clutch and happy flywheel to save time down the line of labor. do it all while its out to save a hassle.

go for aluminum flywheel, but make sure the teeth are steel.

that's the best way to ensure it'll last. you can re-surface the aluminum, but if the teeth are aluminum they can break off easily.

check out the mgw shifter also, ive heard great things about it and the steeda is noisy... if i had it to do over I would definatly consider the mgw.. they have AMAZING quality parts.

It should have everything. When I bought my stage 3, it came with everything needed for installation. The only extra part I had to get was the firewall adjuster and quandrant because the plastic ford one sucks donkey balls. By the way, I would recommend the UPR triple hook quadrant and firewall adjuster. Since you are swapping you might as well get the kit which also includes an adjustable clutch cable. I think it is like $50-$60 for all 3 in the kit.

Btw, how much HP do you hope to have when all is said and done? The reason I ask it, if you hope to have mega power like my V6 build is hoped to have, a stage 3 might be a good idea. But, a 2 should get you by until you decide to push moded 03/04 cobra type numbers.

Yea I dont plan on having those numbers for a long time.. by which I will have to replace the clutch anyway I bet....

I am guessing I will sit at 240ish to the wheels for awhile...

I will get the UPR one you suggested and stage 2 spec clutch

DO NOT use the throwout bearing that comes with a spec clutch it is a major POS... use an oem ford... not that they are much better. I have a pilot bearing and a fork arm brent if you need it. You may not can use the fork arm...ill have to try to find em.

I'll give you 250 shipped for it since no pilot bearing.... but I cant tell you when i can get you that money I still have to get this damn engine rebuilt and then hope my tranny can be fixed enough to where I can drive it.. cause I am not paying over 100 bucks to fix it.. if its more than that she is getting parked.

I started typing this type of response to it, but I changed my mind since I have stated it about 3-4 times before. It obviously isn't believed. My TOB is just fine. The Ford ones have TSB on them.

Re: Ok made up my mind... going to swap for a manual and need input

yea, fords suck... I have been though 4 and on my way to go though my 5th throwout bearing.. and I DO NOT abuse mine... if it wasnt for my perfect adjustment keeping on my clutch the current bearing would be trashed by now.... it ticks if I let it get unadjusted.... ford TB's blow... the old spec ones were just worse. I went though one TB in a week.

brand new they are like 360, plus shipping, i know a pilot bearing is worth a hell of alot less than 100 bucks. and mine is brand new, its just sitting in its box. for 250 shipped i would rather put it in my car.

Hey, I just remembered a link I saw when I was looking at crate engines for my V6 build. Super six has a write up of everything you need to do the swap. Here it be http://www.supersixmotorsports.com/PDF/T5SwapFAQ.pdf . It has some things that you don't have listed.

If you put a good shift kit in a Mustang Automatic they do a great job in my opinion. I had a B&M in my 99 and I think I liked it as well or better at times than a manual.
