Engine Swap for a 3.8 v6 Mustang

that's what I'm looking for. But I need info.

I've heard that there were a number of Thunderbird models that had built in S/C. That's what I'd like to jump for, but I don't know what models and what years to look into. I have a guy willing to pass me a 3.8 t-bird engine with 92k miles on it [which has about 100k less than my current 3.8]

But. I've also another guy with a 1985 3.8 v6 LX motor....

I'm looking for basically the cheapest most efficient / power increasing swap...and info about those thunderbird years and models to look for the S/C so I save money on a 3k+ supercharger for this car.....

Re: Engine Swap for a 3.8 v6 Mustang

Suggestions for other motors of similar build [preferably with the S/C built in] are more than welcome also. those are just the ideas I've stumbled across. I've also found another fellow who has a 95 Tbird 3.8 engine for sale....would that drop in ?

well man if you are going to do an m90 swap you may want to reconsider. Look on craigslist for a 99+ 3.8l (split port) motor can usually be found for pretty cheap and then get the m112 adapter from supersix motorsports. You will get a imporved motor and a larger super charger with better cooling and then if you want to run stock internals don't rund mor that 8psi of boost. Cheapest swap. Your tranny should mate up because I am pretty sure you have a t5 so all you need to do is pull the motor and swap in the engine and ECU. I am sure there are more specific instructions but that should take care of it.

yea the supercharger does not transplant from the thunderbird to the mustang, basically you need the entire engine.

You can take your single port (4 intake runners vs 8 intake runners on 99-04 3.8L) and build it and end up wtih 220rwhp-250rwhp. This will take stroking the engine, porting the heads, intakes, cam, crank, pistons, tune, etc

waste of time doing a m90 swap! THE GAINS ARENT WORTH THE TIME OR MONEY! i got everything almost then realized how much i could lose by switching to single port heads! youll need the single port heads, lower intake, upper intake, water pump, all kinds of brackets from an s/c, the m90 with all the piping and intercooler with the intercooler boot, bigger injectors, umm and whole bunch more crap! DONT DO it lol
