If you have a V6 then you will need 7.5 gear set GT's use 8.8 gear sets. They are not interchangable unless you change the entire rearend which some people do if you are going to live on the track or take your car well above 300 HP which most dont!!!
buy a complete 8.8 rear end if you can, in the long run you will be much happier if you decide to do some real moding or even go to the track. Only upgrade the stock rear end if you plan to only mess around a bit on the street.
On a 99+ yes or a spped cal on a 5 speed. You will need a chip on a 94-98 if you wat to go above 90. The speed sensor will need to be removed and you will need a 23 tooth speedo gear

Yes def get the chip because it sucks when you scared to go above 80 for fear of your engine exploding...
