Question Tuner... Worth it or not? (2000 v6)

I HAVE A 2000 V6 WITH A CATTED X PIPE (HI-FLOW) AND A COLD AIR INTAKE. I USE SYNTHETIC EVERY 2000 MILES AND I USE 93 GAS... WOULD A TUNER BE WORTH IT? DOES IT REALLY DO THAT MUCH TO A CAR?

HELP!
THANKS!

Yes.

I'd give details, but I have class soon. Hopefully someone else here will chime in why.

The tuner kinda but the tune is what makes the power the tuner simply loads it into the car and can do little things like read codes don't get a mail order (online) tune you to a tuning shop and have them put it on a dyno and they can actually flash it straight to your can and you don't have to buy a tuner but you can't read codes but that is free at auto zone and you cant save your stock tune

CHILE, as far as a tuner goes it will give you some performance gains but whether or not they will be cost effective after buying the tuner and having it programmed will be subjective. It is really better suited for a car that has internal modifications so that you can get your mods to be at there most power efficient.

I would say you have a good start but before you go spending your hard earned money on any more mods figure out where you want your car to end up, what you want to use it for, and how much you want to spend. Always better to know where you are and where you want to go before you begin your journey.

Re: Tuner... Worth it or not? (2000 v6)

Get the tuner it's well worth the money even on a motor with basic bolt-on a UDP will also wake the motor up.If you have the cash get some gears 3:73 for manual 4:10 for auto and if your not tuned for 93 your just wasting your money a 93 octane tune kick *** compared to the 87 factory tune
Incomplete combustion can happen running 93 octane with the stock tune causing carbon build up and premature catalytic converter failure

Higher octane burns at a differant rate

autos do a lot better than manuals due to the ability to tune the trans. Dont change your oil every 2k miles unless you only drive 2k miles a year. Do it every 3k.

highly reccomended for automatics, hell it even downshifts, if you are going to use 93 octane you should have it tuned for 93

Re: Tuner... Worth it or not? (2000 v6)

i would def get the tuner i got a switch chip from sct with a 93 tune and it really wakes the car up but with the switch chip you have take/send it back to who you bought it from to retune if you get more mods for your car if you plan on getting more stuff done to your car i would get a tuner you can retune yourself

It add length to the runners more HP/TQ and lower the temperature of the intake manifold cooler temps more power Before the spacer I dynoed at 188/215 to the wheels afterwards 193/221 not a huge increase But worth the 80.00 bucks
