Re: rear swaybar advanatges?

It was insane for Ford to stop putting them on the V6's to begin with the damn cheap *** bastards!!! There is only gain in putting one on. There are no negatives. The second you take a corner with one on you will understand. The back in does not lift as much or want to come around in tight corners

Re: rear swaybar advanatges?

haha thnx. that was the first helpful info in the replies

ya i stopped by our guy today at ford/lincoln/mercury and he hooked me up w/ a stock GT swaybar and the nuts/washer mount thingies for rite at $100. will be in tomorrow.

the GT bar is supposed to be better than cobra because of the shape between the transition at the corners from round to square. less likely to break at that point apparently.

Re: rear swaybar advanatges?

Actually it is the 96-97 and it broke right at the bolt hole. I have a friend with a 96 at work that it happened to. But it is not that common and there was a problem with a certain lot of the swaybars

Re: rear swaybar advanatges?

I need to put mine on...and yes, my car has a bad tendency of wanting to drift around when I'm pushing it, hoping maybe the rear swaybar will fix that.

But you cant use a 99+ Cobra sway bar on a GT or V6 unless you put an IRS rearend in the car

Re: rear swaybar advanatges?

I put my sway bar in and DAMN, my rear it SOOOOO tight now. before it felt so loose. In fact is was so loose I could squel my tires. But now I have the new control arms, the 8.8 w/3.73s and the rear sway bar. That thing ain't moving at all!!!

Re: rear swaybar advanatges?

it really helps balance out the car, corners flatter, and does help reduce understeer

Re: rear swaybar advanatges?

It does help with the understeer, and it does corner flatter, and more predictable. If I could find the time to put these springs on, I'd probably notice a difference with those too, huh?

Re: rear swaybar advanatges?

I had less oversteer with mine... not a massive difference though. They are cheap so get one... (used junk yard 99+ gt one)

Re: rear swaybar advanatges?

I'm thinking of pulling mine off. I have too much oversteer. It get's squirelly in curves.

Of course I don't have a stock rear suspension, or front. Maybe I'll just up the front bar instead.

Re: rear swaybar advanatges?

The Thread From The Dead Bwuahahahahahahaha

I just got some better sway bars for my car from an 86 T-Bird Turbocoupe

1 5/16" front
5/8" rear

It stiffened up my car a bunch, and I had to relearn how to drive it. It was a good thing. Still haven't reached its limits yet, but I push the envelope a little more each day.

I hardly notice body roll anymore, and my tires dont squeal as much going through turns and curves.
