Trying to run 14.5

I have a 5 speed 3.8 V6 mustang with dual flowmasters and a bbk cold air intake. I'm aiming for a 14.5 quarter mile time. What should I get next to be able to do that? Thanks. -Chris

What year is your car?

Cause if you have a 94-98 it will take more than gears and a tune... alot more and even on a 99+ it will take more.

Re: Trying to run 14.5

Start with 3.73-4.10 Gears I would do 4.10 gears with a t-lok even with a 5-speed personally.

After you get the gears in buy a speedcal to correct your speedo (dont know if a chip will fix a 99+ 5 Speed speedo)

Get an Aluminum Driveshaft, sticky tires, Underdrive Pulley, and a 600-700 Dollar Nitrous kit and spray a 50 shot. Your motor will handle that with a breeze.

^ Cheapest way right there.

Re: Trying to run 14.5

yeah, NO2 is defiantely the cheapest way for sure, but it's so addicting that it becomes very expensive and fast. I personally like the N/A route, but that's expensive all at once. But the power is always there and the only thing you have to refill is your gas tank. At $40 a pop now.

Ok thanks, then get the chip since you will need one with the nitrous if that is the path you go.

Re: Trying to run 14.5

and i'd be carefull with the sticky tires on a 7.5 rear end...though some have handled it in the past.

Re: Trying to run 14.5

I have a 99 up adn with all my mods i would be good to do a 14.7~

3.73 gears
Tlok
UD pulley
CAI
Aluminum DS
Tune
Traction

and you might be CLOSE once you get to where you can hook up and drive good.... but even with all that I still doubt you will hit your mark.

Keep in mind, where you are located at in the US via elevation is a big factor in what you can run as well.

Re: Trying to run 14.5

Yes, lower is better. Their is less O2 at higher elevatoins and the atmospheric pressure is greater at lower elevatoins.
