Re: I got my C springs!!!!

Have fun.

My car has a cut coil in the rear if you're just interested in what it'll look like. Go to my gallery and they're in the most recent folder under My Mustang or somethin like htat.

Re: I got my C springs!!!!

some C's have em cut anyway so make sure yours does not have it cut already, basically if the top of the rear springs, the very end, gets very flat (very flat) as it ends its uncut, if its blunt then its probably cut a bit)

If you see the flat part, just go from the end of the coil and cut directly even with it, just the next coil down. Thats cutting 1 coil

Corey gave me a picture when I did mine... Ill try finding it hang on.

Re: I got my C springs!!!!

I tried it with a grinder...didn't work. Cutting wheel works well, sawzall with metal cutting blade will probably work just as well.

Re: I got my C springs!!!!

Depends on the sort of drop you want. I'm not too familiar with what C Springs do to 94-98s, but my 99 mustang has had the dead coil cut and I wouldn't have it any other way.

Re: I got my C springs!!!!

if you do not cut a coil from the REAR springs then the rear will sit up a good bit higher than the front. This is ONLY true if the coil has not been cut already.

Re: I got my C springs!!!!

lol your not supposed to heat those up EVER lol torching them can alter the spring rate. Bring the rear springs they are probably fine but NEVER do that to the fronts

Re: I got my C springs!!!!

hey quick question, actually just making sure, but are the flat parts in this pic the dead coil?

i assume i chop 1 full coil off, so the starting point of the coil is the same spot right?

and chopping the dead coil on front and back, the car will still sit a very small amount higher in the back correct(just as if you didnt cut them at all? cause i like the raked look, even if its barely, barely noticeable, and want to get the most out of the springs i can without having to get cc plates.

Re: I got my C springs!!!!

I made the mistake of thinking that as well...it took me several tries to get it looking right. Right now I have about 3/4 off in front and back, but I also have about 300 pounds of stereo back there lol

you can see the end of the dead coil on the rears in your picture. Cut the full coil only on the rears, leave the front alone. When you install the fronts leave out the front top isolator. it will lower the front a tiny bit more, and makes NO difference in ride quality. dont cut the front now, you can later but dont now... you cant add coils back.

Re: I got my C springs!!!!

Especially with your v8..it will lower the front more than my v6 did on the front b/c of the added weight.

Re: I got my C springs!!!!

well i just installed them without chopping the dead coils. i figure if i do decide to get the roush kit, then i dont want it to be too low and drag the kit, especially when its gonna have side exhaust and 2.5" piping back there under the car.

and it sits pretty even, so chopping the rear prolly mightve given it a *** sag look. ill get pics tomorrow

Re: I got my C springs!!!!

i didn't chop the fronts, and i did use the isolaters and got a nice noticable drop... i cut the full coil of the rear and it dropped level for me. ill try to get a pic in the near future. ive gotta get a digi cam
