Flowmaster Mufflers

What's the difference between the Flowmaster Super Flow 44, the Flowmaster Oringinal 40, and the Flowmaster Delta Flow 40?

Re: Flowmaster Mufflers

if you go there site, it kinda tells you what car they are made for, also gives you a chart of how loud each one is, interior and exterior wise and in idle.

i know i do NOT have the ones recommended for my mustang, i got the loudest ones i could get lol they are made for a car with 300 plus horses. thats what you have to watch out for.
make sure your car puts out the proper horse power to accomdate that muffler, besides that its all about how loud you want it!

Re: Flowmaster Mufflers

There's 3 different mufflers for the '03 Mustang and the descriptions of each one are the same...Is there another site that compares them?

Re: Flowmaster Mufflers

Yah it seems a lot of v6 guys go with the original 40's or the delta flow 40's. As Ken said, it's really a personal preference on how loud you want it to be, they all sound decent on the v6. Just make sure they are chambered...I'd imagine they are all 2 chambered mufflers, but you may want to check. The straight thru design sounds bad on the v6's, so stay away from them.

Re: Flowmaster Mufflers

Thank you, I imagine they probably sound very similar to each other if not exactly the same.

Very nice but I noticed you also have dual exhaust..does that contribute to the sound?

Re: Flowmaster Mufflers

It does a good amount. Using a single muffler will make the overall tone of your exhaust better than stock, but nowhere near a dual exhaust setup.

If you're looking for some improved sound/tone over stock for cheap, a muffler swap is the way to go.

i would say it makes is Louder having a duel exhaust, and mine is a true duel and i have NO cats. but i know your looking for deeper more then louder and you should get that from the flowmaster.

i started out with the flowmaster thats made for the s197, like just a single and it was DEFF louder then stock and it had a nice deep tone to it. Ofcouse i was happy with that for about 3 weeks lol went back and got a duel exhaust, JBA mufflers (came with the set up) and i wasnt happy with that. i wanted beastly loud.

so finally went long tube kooks headers, took out the cats, x pipe to the super 40 flowmasters. i turend the car on when i got it and immediatly paniced. it was sooooo dam loud! i was like my wife is gonna kill me lol

you cant tell as much in the vid but my car is way too loud for most, especially sitting in the drivers seat. but thats how i like it.

you gotta see how you like it bro. go for the single super 40, if you want more, just save it, do a true duel set up and buy one more super 40.

just go to a muffler shop to get it done, its a better idea.

let us know what you decide. i know deciding is the hard part lol

Re: Flowmaster Mufflers

I'm going to get a super 40 I've decided. I should probably wait a week or two so I can save a few bucks and also I ordered a CAI and I'm going to throw that in there first.

Re: Flowmaster Mufflers

That's a good start. Should you want more sound and dual exhaust, you can always save up some and do it in the future. Good luck with it and let us know how it goes, post up a sound clip if you get a chance

NOTHING! they say the size is more convenient for a truck on one and more compact on another, and oh more HP with the newer one BULL****. It's a marketing ploy to try and get you to buy the same muffler TWICE. You litterally can't tell the difference side by side on those three.

Just do what I did and rip the mufflers out (you'll need a new tune to get your torque back + a few) it literally sounds exactly the same only it's even more horses/torque and then it doesn't cost 400 bucks, just some labor and some tips lol.

Here's how it sounds:

oh and before that I had cutouts after the cats, WAY too loud, bu here's how that sounds in the car:
