Re: Convertible top

Make a post in the regional section for shops in your area, but as far as fixing a new top is quite cheap, the install is where you pay

Re: Convertible top

Have you tried Automat in Hicksville? There supposed to be awesome at restoration, and not just because their 3 A.M. comercials say so.

Re: Convertible top

Can always try picking up a new top and replacing it yourself, or maybe a ghetto fix. Is the top vinyl or cloth?

Re: Convertible top

I would assume you could just use the glass out of your current top? Here's a top for $170
CONVERTIBLE TOP 1994-2004 - CJ Pony Parts, Inc.

Re: Convertible top

hmm you could possibly buy an entire top already mounted on a frame at a junk yard and just install it~ but the top you buy will have to be in good shape of course~ that wont be 1200 dollars.

Do you know how most of these guys learned as much as they know about mustangs? By getting out there, rippin **** apart, and putting it back together! There are only two things I'd refuse to even try to do myself on my GT............................................
#1- Anything as far as going INTO the engine ( it's my DD, and I can't afford to have it dead in the yard. But if I had another one laying around, I wouldn't think twice about rippin into it),
#2- Anything with the brakes!!!!! I HATE ****ING WITH BRAKES!

Find you another top, and if you don't have a garage/shed, get a roll of plastic just in-case you have to walk away from it for a few hours. TRY to install it. If you hit any snags, simply fire-off a post, and while waiting for a reply, dig around the net for instructions. Hell, for that matter, drop 30bucks on a chilton or haynes book for your car. You could even go as far as buying a case or two of beer, and con-ing some of your buds to come help! It'll be a fun time for all!

Re: Convertible top

Yea, that seems to the prob with ALOT of mustangs, especially the older ones.....people really treat em like ****! I think I got lucky on mine! I found alot of em, that were in ****ty condition, that woulda cost more than what I paid. I'm the third owner. The guy I got mine from, is a chief petty officer in the navy, so he's got a few years on me, and the guy he got it from, was even older. Needless to say, this one has been very well taken care of! Granted, it has a FEW minor flaws, but I'll eventually get em taken care of.

Re: Convertible top

yeah well i wish mine was a gt and 5 speed but thats not the cars fault more my rents and mine for stuggling with college tuition but yeah this was like a project car for me. i bought it and it had no radio so i wired a 7 inch touch screen up and installed tweeters. a litttle scratched bufferd out. whats left is the convertible top , my head lights are weak so i want to get nice idk bout hid lights but somthing nice . i just orders new cobra headlight kit because the housing on mine was terrilbe so im gonna replace that. and since i have an after market radio i have where the 5 diskchange was empty so i need to fill that in but after that my car is complete for me and thenn down the road ill spice it up and get sweet foglights and do some other cool ****

Re: Convertible top

There's still alot of cool stuff out there for 6's! Try to find some oem GT fogs! They'll look better than anything else, because they'll fit the hole like they are meant to. Here's a link to some. Mustang Stock Replacement Fog Lights - Pair (96-98) at AmericanMuscle.com - Free Shipping!
Or, you could simply find or order some stock brackets, and put on these chrome lights (which is what I'll be putting on mine) Chrome Mustang Fog Lights (96-98) at AmericanMuscle.com - Free Shipping!

Re: Convertible top

Brewskies help, I like to recommend LI's own Blue Point Brewery. Toasted Lager, Blueberry Ale, and their Oatmeal Stout is yum.
