Launchin a 6

I have a stock 03 v6 manual, and I have been to the track already, my best time is a 15.8 @ 89. My launch technique now is basically slip the hell outta the clutch and come out of the hole at about 2 grand. My 60' time was a 2.34, which i know can be better. My question is if any of you guys know of a better technique to get my 60's down. Keeping in mind my tires suck ***, i swear they must have been soaked in WD-40 before they were put on my car. Any suggestions would be great.

hold it at 2500rpms to start, come off the clutch and get on the gas slow until the front has raised up then get into it hard. It takes practice and finding a sweet spot. With my lca lift bars i could launch amazingly... you may need to upgrade your lcas if your track sucks, or tires if you have the stock turds.

Re: Launchin a 6

You just need to experiment to see what works for you & the track you are at.

Re: Launchin a 6

Well last night was a test and tune and I took your advice about the launches, and it worked out pretty well. I need some more practice at it to get it down but I definitely noticed some difference and a hell of a lot less wheel spin. But on the plus side I turned out a 15.5 @ 90.28 which is a .3 improvement. And that was with a ****ty 2.4 60', so i'm hopin with a good 60' I can hit a 15.3, thats the best I've heard you can get outta a v6 thats bone stock.

im pretty sure any boost in performance from 3.8 to 3.9 was an ego boost.

I'm as stock as stock can be, so I'm relatively happy with the numbers I'm puttin down, aside from the whole 60' issue.

Re: Launchin a 6

Getting a good 60' with the stock rear-end will be difficult.

You mph is good, so if you can get a decent launch the times will be there.

Re: Launchin a 6

Slipping the clutch to launch is a poor technique and really bad on your clutch .If you want better 60 ft. times you need to get better tires ,like some good drag radials so you can launch around 5000 , then you will see both your 60 ft times and ET times go much lower .Gears will help ,just make sure you put in a good t-loc and a 7.5 girdle that will help protect your rear end
from going South.

yes. i would recommend gears+chip. the gears wont add any HP to your car, but will increase acceleration. 3.73 for manual, 4.10 for auto
