Switch chip question

Ok...I just finished installing a 4 switch chip on my friend's 04 stang. We were kinda curious...does the car have to be cut off before switching the tune? Just kinda curious..instructions said absolutely nothing about this and I've never messed with a switch chip before.

Re: Switch chip question

They aren't hard to install but it does take some guts to play with your computer.

It's basically just cleaning the port, and plugging it in though.

Re: Switch chip question

There's absolutely nothing to it, just be sure you clean the plugs well. I have a one stage 93 performance tune on my car and just installed this 4 stage chip, it's nice. I'll be sure to tell him he can change it while running.

Re: Switch chip question

On some cars you can switch on the fly, on others it just doesn't work for some reason. Make sure you only jump one program at a time, and you turn the dial from one # to the next (don't stop inbetween).

Re: Switch chip question

Aight, I think to be safe I'll tell him to cut the car off inbetween.
