Question PBR Dual-Piston Caliper Part Number?

I drive a 2003 V6, and my front driver's side caliper went bad. I've been trying to get a replacement from Watertown Ford (http://www.watertownford.com/parts.aspx) for about two weeks now, and for some reason the part that their computer says goes on the car is different from what's actually on there.

The car has the PBR dual-piston calipers, but the garage keeps coming back with TWRs. The TWRs are also dual-piston so I thought maybe they were the same part just made by a different supplier, but the TWR caliper definitely doesn't bolt on to the PBR caliper bracket.

It would be absolutely awesome if someone could tell me the part number of the caliper I'm looking for!

2003 V6 Mustang
Front, driver's side caliper
PBR dual-piston

Thanks in advance!

Tousley Ford Parts Depot

They have the part number as 3R3Z2V121CARM

Their price for a reconditioned caliper is 55.68 with a 50 dollar core charge (return your caliper to them or pay 50 bucks) regular price through them is 84.37. You can go to their site and enter in the part number above if you wish as well. This was given to me using an 03 V6 front drivers side caliper (PBR win piston) so hopefully this will work for you. Give them a call if you choose to go with them, they have AMAZING prices on all OEM ford stuff. They are a Ford dealer (have a car lot all that)

That is with a 10% discount, they are a great place to deal with.

Re: PBR Dual-Piston Caliper Part Number?

Thanks for the quick reply! Unfortunately, that's the same part number that's on the box and invoice from Watertown Ford. The first time we figured out it was the wrong part they thought someone may have mis-packed the box, but the second one came back the same as the first.

It sounds like either the guy in the warehouse is smoking dope, or for some reason I have different brakes on my car. It's a bone stock '03 V6 and it has the "Pony Package," but I'm fairly sure that's all aesthetic.

Thanks again for the help! Any other ideas?

hmmm well you can go to a junk yard and rip one off, or you can contact tousley ford to see if they have them in stock and can give you pictures or get to the bottom of it if they also have the wrong part.

Re: PBR Dual-Piston Caliper Part Number?

Hey I have a pair of PBR Calipers that I will sell to you? You can have the passenger one at no charge. Just make me an offer. They came off my 2002 when I upgraded my front brakes to Cobra Brakes and I'm positive they are PBR, but don't know the number. I cleaned them up and gave them two coats of high temp ceramic paint about 4 months ago and have been sitting in box since. What do you think about $40 for the lot and lines? I also have a set of slightly used rotors if interested. Let me know.
Justin.

Re: PBR Dual-Piston Caliper Part Number?

I finally got this straightened out: According to the Ford dealer, normally the "Motorcraft" parts and the "Ford" parts are exactly the same. However in this case, the Motorcraft part number is for the TWR caliper, and the Ford part number is for the PBR caliper. The Ford part is more expensive, but they're definitely not interchangeable (like the dealer thought they were).

Thanks to both of you (and anyone else who did any digging)!
