Best HP Increase with a $500 budget?

I've got a 2004 v6 3.8L Mustang. I'm wondering what I could do for maximum horsepower increase. But its just gotta be under 500 bucks.

Thanks,
v0nz.

Not a HP increase but a kick in the butt increase would be Traction Lok and gears in the rear.

for $500, if you want HP, about all you can REALLY do is NOS

NOS will give you horsepower but gears will give you a kick in your seat off the line, when overtaking cars and the T-LOK will allow thos two wheel burnouts :burnout:

yeap, I agree gears are a better way to go... but if he wants to make more HP, gears won't do that.

Yes, you are correct sir. Gears do not give you any horsepower.

Another possible idea is a custom tune but I guess there wouldn't be a big enough notice in anything to do so.

gears/tlok 3.73s will shave off 2.5 tenths 0-60~ for 99-04 and pre 99... much more, about .5 tenths.

Re: Best HP Increase with a $500 budget?

Once you buy your gears and tlok you won't have enough left of your 500 dollars to put them in unless you save up more take your cylinder heads off and have them ported and polished and gasket matched its possible to have that done for 500 dollars you will just need to ask the machine shops in your area for prices.

What are your plans for the car? If you plan on building a lot of power I would suggest starting with suspension and drive train. Start from the bottom and work your way up so when you build more power you'll be able to utilize it all. All the power in the world doesn't matter if you can't hook up...

welcome to my current issue. The GT is mainly stock, but with how cold it's been, the 315's have no grip... and I have some suspension stuff done. First gear is a joke.

Re: Best HP Increase with a $500 budget?

I'm going to focus all my attention on my suspension this spring. 31 spline axles, control arms, rear diff. ect... I can't launch hard at all my 315's look good that's about it
