Re: governor

Yah I'm pretty sure that's embedded in the ecu...as stated above, a tune is the only solution.

Re: governor

To be honest, I'd save up and get the tuner or get a dyno tune. Not only can you alter stock settings like the governor and rev limiter, but depending on the type of tune you can gain some noticeable hp and tq. The biggest difference will be in your transmission. Autos are significantly changed for the better after a tune. It will feel like a completely different car.

Re: governor

115 is all that car needs to go honestly lol, but if you put gears in it then the limiter will go down to around 80 which sucks~ and then it is needed of course.

Re: governor

Craiglist or eBay for a Predator SCT handheld tuner. I'm pretty sure both would remove the limiter and you can get one second hand for a bit cheaper. Just make sure it's "unlocked".

Re: governor

On my 97 I could hit the limiter in 4th or 5th it didn't seem to matter what my rpm's were. I thought that was pretty stupid on Fords part to hit the limiter and still have a gear to go.
