Re: i need some help on how to mod a v6

first off what year is your car, all stock, condition, milage, transmission etc etc etc and what are you goals, dont just say to have alot of power lol.... what do you want the car to be able to do with in reason and what is your overall budget. Keep in mind the more moded a car is the more trouble you have so if this is a daily driver you may not want to go to super wild.

I'm doing suspension and subframe connectors with mine before i add power to it. you might want to strengthen it up a bit as well. and before you slap on the procharger i would make sure everything is running fine beforehand since you said you just got it

I wouldn't do too much without rebuilding the engine. And I'd do suspension, 8.8 rear end, 3.73 gears, 4.2 stroker, p/p upper and lower, and a chip....and you'd be faster than most stock gts on the road.

Re: i need some help on how to mod a v6

Simple recipe, remove V6, insert V8.

You know what they say about V6's? 4 banger power, V8 economy.

And I own a V6 Stang. But I have no plans to beef the motor.

Re: i need some help on how to mod a v6

if you want to improve the performance rebuilding the motor while stroking it to a 4.2 will be a very good start, the final result should yeild the same performance as a stock pre 99 GT if not better depending on how far you go into it.

As far as suspension steer away from steeda products and other cheaper products cuz you get what you pay for. I go to www.maximummotorsports.com cuz i feel they are the best out there; however, you should also look around to determine what you feel to be the best for your need (maximum motorsports is just my opinion)

for a rear axle upgrade buy an 8.8 rear end and save yourself alot of hassel. you can get one for a good price and swap in 3.73 gears (good for manual tranny cars) for under 1000 bucks total.

I would start small and always keep the big picture in mind.

Re: i need some help on how to mod a v6

yeah before you plan to acheive power -such as a procharger would give you... rear end is definity a necessity. (haha a v6 open rear -one wheel burn outs and 2.73gears; with a procharger)
get a 8.8in rear but i would shop around and you'll save hundreds.. plus you wont want the 99-04 gt rear b/c its wider and more expensive.

take a look at this page if you're going to start digging into your engine. I've talked with the guy a few times and he's very helpful at helping you find what you want.

if you stick around for a while and get to know some of the sponsors on the site they'll probably give you a deal.

Re: i need some help on how to mod a v6

I would say go with dual exhaust, CAI, T-lok, Gears, and a Tuner that way you don't have to worry about getting a chip reflashed

Re: i need some help on how to mod a v6

i would get some lowering springs and do the exhasut first, both of those will benifit you in looks and performance, and the exhaust will alter the cars sound.

After exhaust and udp's, as I've learned, the other bolt on's are a waste of money. Save up and do it right by getting a poweradder. Then get the stage 3 kit from supersixmotorsports.com. Overall cost, probably $8,000. But you'll be making supercharged Cobra's cry, and with the cost of your vehicle, depending on the deal you got, probably still come in under the cost of your year's GT brand new.

If you plan on going with an SC fairly soon don't get the UD pulley. You will have to put the stock one back on for the SC.

Re: i need some help on how to mod a v6

First figure out your ultimate goal, (NA, Stroker, SC/turbo, or combination thereof).

Then set a budget, and try and find good used stuff.

This is a good place to consult for help, we have many people who have
done lots of modding.

What do you plan on for the engine when you start on it?
I'd like to see an hot high-CR engine either 3.8 or stroker.
But that would be an entire rebuild.

'Sup MAAudio!

I spent a long cold winter up at Streator one month in '99,
working at the Nuke... LaSalle Station. I actually stayed at
Ottawa but went thru Streator several times.

It would be a much nicer place in summer, no doubt!
Nice to meet ya...
