I haven't been around in a while, what is wrong with your current engine?

Depends, if there is a shop close you could have them rebuild your current block for somewhere around 900$. New pistons, rings, rods, rod bearings, cam bearings, etc.

Just depends what you want to do with your car.

If you decide to just get a new engine than try going to a junkyard anf finding a low mileage donor car, or for brand new you can always pick parts up via Ford Racing.

Just try to find a donor car that you can hear the engine run, check the oil, air filter etc. to see if it was maintained. I think a 99 3.8 would fit with a few small changes it may be worth the 40 extra hp you'd gain.

Re: Guys need help.. going to get new engine.. need advice

If you're looking for HP, stay away from the autozone, advanced,o'reilly's, blah blah blah.... I work PT at O'reilly's, if you just want something that'll get you around, fine.....but for performance, look elsewhere. We get most of our engines from Everdrive( basically all of their **** is stripped out of wrecked cars, so it's all used, however, they do offer a 3yr warranty....1st yr parts and labor, 2nd and 3rd parts) As I understand, that's where the other stores get theirs also. Now, we all offer new engines, basically from the heads down...but for those prices, I'd think it'd be better to put just a little more with it, and just get a damned crate motor, or just simply do a rebuild. If you want to do a rebuild, but that car is still your DD, just hit a junkyard, get another engine, and rebuild it while you can still drive the other one.
