Re: ecu chiping

The chip I have is SCT tuned. My rev limiter is moved up slightly. The only thing is, on a stock engine, there's really no need to have a higher limiter. Your engine peaks before that.

Re: ecu chiping

Your peak power on the stock engine is before the rev limiter. The only real reason for raising it would be so you can accidently overrev on the shift and be able to recover.

going all the way to 7K RPM's won't bennefit you anymore because your cars peak or highest point of power will be before it redlines or right around there. Taking it up into the higher RPM's is just more wear and tear for a stock engine. You won't get any gain for going well over the redline.
find out where your car produces the most power and that's where you'll want to shift if you're racing.

The ultimate mustang tuning authority. I plan to have him tune my turbo set-up. It'll be kinda expensive, but I don't think anyone around where I live has any idea how to tune something ike that.

Re: ecu chiping

He quoted me about $700 for everything , but I guess it's better than taking it localy, have them screw it up or not tune it to it's potential, and end up just having Justin do it right in the end.

Re: ecu chiping

The 99s up have a neutral rev limiter of 4000rpm when you are in neutral (auto) or not moving (5spd). The rev limit when moving is 5600rpm. In my tunes I move both limiters to 6000rpm, at 7000rpm bad things would probably happen.

Its important to note that a large part of the $700 is hardware costs, something you can't avoid when remote tuning through over the net, if you were local you wouldn't need to buy the $200 wideband.

Re: ecu chiping

Or if you are close enough weigh the cost of a road trip to Justin.

If the 8.8 has stock gears then you don't need to do anything.
