Re: Rotors going bad?

Yeap buy a new set of rotors and pads and be sure to check the calipers
if they are sticking thats causing the warping .

Re: Rotors going bad?

Yeh..check and see if they can be turned first. I had all 4 of my rotors turned last year....seems to still be doing ok after 20k miles on them.

Re: Rotors going bad?

no way, this is what I would do. Find a set of 99+ dual piston caliper and swap those over. you'll lose some weight and have better stopping power. Also get a set of power slot rotors and you'll be all set.

If you do end up getting new rotors, make sure you check out prices first before taking it to a shop.

Re: Rotors going bad?

Ok here is what happened a while back when this was going on, I did have a mechanic swap my rotors which took care of the problem for like a few weeks but then it came back, when it rains outside it doesnt seem to do this at all so I wasnt sure on what it could be, I bought new rotors and am going to have them put on this weekend since I need the car through out the week for school and work..Thanx for the nice replies guys, some people from another site gave me remarks like " well if you didnt drive with your foot on the brake then you wouldnt have this problem" but thanx for the replies and advice, im hoping putting new rotors on will help.

Re: Rotors going bad?

wait so you are replacing the rotors that you already swaped out a few weeks ago? I'd try to find what keeps warping them so you don't end up replacing them all the time. If they went bad after a few weeks then there's gotta be something else wrong.

Re: Rotors going bad?

the shop probably tried to take advantage of a girl and only turned the rotors instead of putting new ones on there. Whenever someone does work on my car, ill stand outside the garage and watch them do the work so i know theyre not screwing anything up. Sounds like you may have been scammed... not cool.

I'd be raising some hell if I were you.

They wouldn't like me very much

Get your dad to go up there with you and raise hell. It always works.

Re: Rotors going bad?

get a new set of rotors and put em on, its pretty darn easy and you can learn a bit on the car. Basically jack the front of the car up and take the wheels off (loosen the lugs before you jack it up though)

then turn the wheel to which ever side you need to so the caliper faces out, then remove the 2 15mm bolts on the back (there are 4 bolts, the ones you want to remove are the ones that are holding the brake onto the base mount, not the top caliper bolts.

after that slide the caliper off and hang it up so the line is not pinched or has stress on it then slide the old rotor off (tap with hammer if its stuck a bit) then slide the new one on and go in reverse making SURE you tq the brake bolts to stock specs (definatly have to do that)

easy project that you can do, make sure the brake pads dont fall out of the caliper, if they do remember how to put them back in.
