Suspension Make-over help

Currently my suspension is completely stock and i would like to improve it bit by bit.

Here is a list of upgrades that i pulled from American Muscle:
lowering springs
strut tower brace
caster camber plates
rear lower control arms
rear upper control arms
Full length subframe connectors
bumpsteer kit
shocks and struts kit
heavy duty rear sway bar

do i need all of these? is there anything that i am missing?

What order should i buy these, and which ones can i do easily myself?

Re: Suspension Make-over help

well when it comes to suspension there is no A-Z = perfect car as everyone wants different things or different levels of performance out of their car. What I can tell you is the more you make thing stiff and replace bushings and this and that the harsher the ride will be and the more road noise and vibrations through the frame you will heave/feel. Its not as bad as pre 05 but its something to consider.

You need to decide what you want out of the car, do you want a full corner carver that you will autox or do you want a drag car. You may just want a street car with improved handling but not to go as far as rip out everything and such for a full blown autox car etc etc.

Springs with CC plates are a good place to start.

Re: Suspension Make-over help

springs, what else are some good things?

Re: Suspension Make-over help

Subframe connectors will really stiffen up the car and make it solid in the twisties. I'd look into them...weld-ins only. Maximum Motorsports or the Mach 1/Bullitt ones are decent.

Shocks/struts are a nice upgrade too, great time to do that is when your doing the springs/cc plates...definitely consider it if you got the extra cash. Tokicos or Bilsteins are good brands.

Re: Suspension Make-over help

I'd change shocks/struts and not worry about the strut/shock tower braces for right now. You won't notice much difference with the strut/shock tower braces and the shocks/struts will make a huge difference. Definitely get c/c plates when you do everything else to make alignment a world easier.

I've been through a few different setups on different cars and like was stated above, it's all a personal preference. I prefer a stiff ride vs a comfortable cruiser.

Yeah do the basic springs and shocks/struts and see if your happy. I upgraded to eibachs/bilstiens and so far I'm happy, better cornering, etc.

Re: Suspension Make-over help

First I would do Springs/CC Plates/Panhard bar adjustment (how ever you wish)

Then Lower rear control arms

Make SURE you know the rate of the springs you are putting in it... cuz if they are not stiffer it wont handle much better, and looks vs handling you need to decide as you can go to low. You want your A Arm (or what ever 05+ call it) to be even with the K member~ not higher up than (aka to low).

For bracing they say 05+ is very stiff compared to pre 99 where subframes is a MUST and should be the first mod honestly.
