Hey whats up. I've got a 2001 Mustang
V6 (Prochrager) that I'm looking to tear into next summer to replace the stock bottom end with forged bottom end (to ultimately throw more boost and turn the tune up). I work with a former Ford tech (roughly 20yrs experience) who tells me that the Thunderbird Super Coupe bottom end is forged.
#1 I called SuperSix Motorsports out of Georgia and he verified that the crank and conn rods were forged, but, what about the pistons? He told me that they hyperutechtic.
#2 Are my stock pistons hyperutectic or regular cast or whatever?
#3 Have you or do you know of anyone who's already swapped the bottom end? How much power are they making? What kind of problems did they run into?
#4 where can I find affordable forged pistons? Will the supercoupe pistons do?
#5 What else do I need to know for this project? What else do I need to be prepared for?
I value your thoughts and what you guys have to say. I look forward to hearing your thoughts.
