You can get a new edge GT(99-04) for that price.Check craigslist.

Re: need some advice

This is true. There are quite a few 94-04 mustang GT's and Cobras for that price with reasonable mileage. You just have to look in the right places.

Personally, I think an 04 v6 with 75k is a little high, but I'm always looking for a deal

If insurance is an issue, get some good quotes from your insurance company and compare, you might find that the difference isn't that much. Plus gas mileage isn't that different either, maybe 1-2 mpgs worse in the v8...I've even heard of v8's getting better mileage than v6's

I'm only suggesting the v8 route because I really do wish I would have bought a v8 5 years ago. I love my car too much to let it go now (plus it's paid off, lol), but if I could go back, I'd definitely go the v8 5spd route. When you have to spend $5000 to get your v6 up to the performance of a bone stock 4.6L SOHC v8 in a GT, if sort of seems redundant...but that's just me, if you really do like the car or are limited to a v6...do it, (after doing your homework on the car of course - background checks, motor/exterior/interior checks, etc), it's still a mustang and it will be fun to drive.

I want a high horsepower mustang, but I see it easier to do with a v8 platform = 03/04 Cobra. So ask yourself where you want to go with the car, if you want some serious power and that american rumble, I'd look into a GT or Cobra.

Re: need some advice

i would keep looking that price is about double what i am seeing in cali on craigslist. Just remember when buying to be patient and then think about where you want to take the car to. i have a 00 v6 and i am in college my insurance is less than 90 a month for liability and like 120 fior full i think. getting a new contract so we will see. But i love my sixer and the can get pretty wild is you are bitten by the mod bug.

Re: need some advice

MPG v6 vs v8 isnt very different... so dont buy a v8 to save on gas... since it really wont the v6 is a cheap car to work on if you do go that route. Its also easy to work on and parts are easily purchased at a local junk yard.
