Re: 00 v6 problem!!

Dood i'll be honest just go with the stock ford motorcraft plugs they won't cause you any problems. Go ahead and replace those if your sure they are bad of course you can just check a couple of them and make sure. They'll either be chipped on the white part or just look plain nasty.

Re: 00 v6 problem!!

What year, mileage, and what have you recently replaced?

There is a whole list of things it might be, but before spending 200 dollars on alot of things let's try and narrow this down some.

Re: 00 v6 problem!!

change the spark plugs, change the plug wires (use the regular ones as aftermarket dont do anything different), and finally check the coil packs as they may be bad.

My daily driver has a v6 and has the coil pack setup like the 2000 mustang v6 has. When one went bad the engine would shake very bad and it would not run good. It was a misfire. A misfire can be a coil, a coil wire, or a spark plug.

Re: 00 v6 problem!!

really bad misfire with some possibly worn out motor mounts.
start with plugs and wires, and if it still does it, then get the coil pack.

Re: 00 v6 problem!!

I agree with Big K. A moderate shake could be plugs and wires, but if it "scares you" I'd say it might very well be a broken or badly worn motor mount AND needing new plugs.

Good call on the motor mounts, I have a customer who is having a major shuttering issue at any rpm over idle and I think that just might be it. Gonna have to give it a try, they've tried everything else.

Re: 00 v6 problem!!

had that problem with my stang! so look into it real good, cuz spending $40 bucks on motor mounts is way better than $120-$150 on plugs, coilpack and wires!
