Yeh, I bought mach 1 exhaust, basically the same thing. Just slightly different mufflers, and after having them on for a year, I just ordered some new mufflers...gonna see how I like these new ones. But, it's a good starting point.

Re: 2005 vs 2000

yeah, i won the dual exhaust for the car, now the hard part is finding a place to weld it up or i will just have to see where to cut it my self and use adapters to put it up for now, i know its not the way to actually do it, but until i can get it welded up i think thats the way i might have to do it, unless one of my buddies can weld it up for me

Re: 2005 vs 2000

Go to an exhaust shop with the exhaust. Tell them you want your stock Y-pipe cut off before it starts the bend. Then you want two pipes bent and welded to go between what's left of your factory y-pipe and the new exhaust. It will all then fall into place. If you think you may be doing tranny work later...you won't want to weld it, get flanges put in or buy an adapter kit. I paid 100 bucks to have mine installed, anything around that is a pretty fair price.

Aight man. And it's never a bad thing to tip your exhaust guy...just a tip for future reference.

Re: 2005 vs 2000

Definately have flanges welded in.

It will make any future changes or maintenance a lot easier.

Just a thought for you, but before I would spend 5K on a 3.8 trying to make it fast I would take that money and trade that thing for a GT.

Re: 2005 vs 2000

There is a site that can calculate the acceleration but it is not entirely accurate because you must maximize the power in ever shift.

http://www.web-cars.com/math/qtr_mile.html

2005 mustang v6 coupe (stock no adjustments): 3,351 lbs.
2000 mustang v6 coupe " ": 3,064lbs

then put in horsepower

just showing a way to find acceleration and quarter time

Re: 2005 vs 2000

The 05 5spds put out some NICE power, I have seen two make 199rwhp with just some kind of exhaust, one of them was on my dyno. CAI + tune is worth another 14-15rwhp.

Re: 2005 vs 2000

From what I found out in another forum is the 2005 v6 manual is dyno'd about 180HP at the rearwheel bone stock and can easily hit 200 with a CAI,axel back muffler, and a good tune. The auto's are about anywere from 160 to 165 at the rearwheel stock and usually hit about 193 with the same mods.

I've never raced an older mustang so I don't know but you should give us a good run for the money!! lol

I would agree with that. I made around 50 dyno runs on my dyno with an 05 v6 last week.

Re: 2005 vs 2000

That's cool to know that you've actually Dyno'd them your self though. That gets me stoked cause I have not dyno'd mine yet and you have dyno'd a few and seen simalier gains. Heck I have not even tuned my chip to the current mods I have. Im waiting till after I get my gears & Tlok.

Speaking of tuning and since you do it all day, which tuner would be best to use? I have a manual so I dont need to change all the shift points and firm them up and all that mumbo jumbo. I thought the SCT would be best but I've heard that the Diablo is better for manual's. Is this true? Does the Diable has all the same features as the SCT except for the Shift points?

I have a "little" experience speccing cams, and your heads stock, unported
flow really well. In fact, one of my old first generation split port cams and a
chip tune ONLY made 215 RWHP and 225 RWTQ with old standard regrind
lobes. I now recommend Comp Cams reground or new cams, the lobe ramps
are so much better that you can get a cam with everything you need for HP
and torque band both!

In fact, the cam above was a 207/215 and it did this:

RGR-Spec cam and chip (dyno-tune): 215 RWHP 225 RWTQ

A competitors complete package with ported heads, intakes, bigger
camshaft, and a tune made these numbers: 219 RWHP 210 RWTQ

A cam that is too big for your combo is a disaster! Not to say this same
"bigger cam" would not work better on a different combo, but the same
207/215 cam on a 4.2 stroker beat another bigger cam on a 4.2-ish hi$
stroker by 5 HP and 20 TQ!

In short, I'm available to help with your camming needs, and you can get
the regrind yourself, saving mucho $$$!

I recently saw a diablo tune for an 05 that was very unimpressive, they did not change some basic things which will really improve throttle response.
