Is it a v6? If so get your planned 410's.

Re: 3.73 gears on automatic?

Definitely send them back and get the 4.10's. If they were 3.90's, I'd say keep them and don't worry about it, but 3.73's won't be as noticeable as you'll want with an auto. The 4.10's are the way to go.

Re: 3.73 gears on automatic?

The 4R70W Automatic transmission (a.k.a. your transmission) has a first gear ratio of ~2.84:1. The TR3650 Manual transmission has a first gear ratio of ~3.38:1. What this means is that the 4R70W turns less in first gear which results in a softer launch. You can make this up by increasing the rear end gear and since it is a little lower than it's manual counterpart, you make up for it by increasing the rear end gear ratio more than you would for a manual.

Short Answer: Go with the 4.10's.

Re: 3.73 gears on automatic?

I haven't really looked for 7.5" gears but I know they are also harder to find. I've only seen the common 3.73 and 4.10 for the 7.5". If you had the 8.8" I know American Muscle carries gear ratios up until 4.88:1

3.73 vs 4.10s is about 1-1.5 tenths of a difference in the quarter mile

Re: 3.73 gears on automatic?

I went 3.73 because of the deal I got on them & the install. It's a big difference from the 2.73 but my car is begging for more gear. I have the Motive gears and have a light whine between 10-45mph. Nothing that will drive you crazy.

I'm going to stick with 3.73's, when the auto dies I'm going to replace it with a T-5. If I was staying with the auto I would def go with the 4.10's.
