Exclamation HELP!! gear problem

ok so stangmods sent me the wrong gears fo my car and i needed 4.10 gears. but ford no longer makes 4.10 gears for 04 7.5 rearend!! the company wants to send me 4.10 motiv gears which are less expensive. whats the difference compared to "ford racing gears"? is one better than the other

Re: HELP!! gear problem

I've heard of some whining after install with Motive Gears, and other cases where there were no issues at all. Ford Racing gears the no. 1 on my list, then Motive Gears, then Richmond.

I'm going to say that the outcome will be based on the quality of the install.

Those are the 2 most popular brands and there are debates on which is the best but they will be just as good as the FRPP gears. No worries my friend.

I"m gonna agree,Its all in the quality of the install.Make sure you chose a good shop for gears. My gear install was a little pricey but the work was outstanding with no whine at all.

Re: HELP!! gear problem

well i really have no choice on this one. they only make motive gears for 7.5 04 that are 4.10s. but im a local mustang expert for the install. he says its a perfect install 99.9% of the time and if he messes up, he will surely fix

Well if he does a good job and you have no issues after install you are getting that done for a very good price.

Is he going to give you a written/signed warranty for the work done?

Re: HELP!! gear problem

I have the Motive gears & they whine a little from 10-45mph. Nothing that will drive you crazy. I'd go ford racing if you have a choice.

Re: HELP!! gear problem

Even if you get some gear whine it's not like it's going to kill you. The 4.10's on the 90 whine to high heaven and they really don't bother me, just part of the car.

Re: HELP!! gear problem

+1 motives are known to whine, also note ford racing out sources their gears to motive recently so you might get motive if you buy ford racing
