intake manifold?

ok so i was thinking about port and polishing my upper and lower intake, but its too much work. if i bought a nice new upper intake would i be able to use my stock lower intake? or would i just need to get a new upper and lower?..if so would i need a new throttle body to fit the new manifolds or no

Re: intake manifold?

Are you going to port & polish the intake yourself? If I don't do the split port swap I'm going to bring my heads & intake to a machine shop can't cost to much to rework the old parts.

Re: intake manifold?

well. no i wouldnt do it myself, id have to take it somewhere and a friend of mine told me i might as well buy a bigger intake thats already polished. is it possible to buy an upper intake to fit on the stock though(a nice one) and what would i gain powerwise out of that...out of a new upper and lower?

What year car do you have? The windstar intake is a popular upgrade for those that are serious about power.

You're not going to notice enough difference to warrant the costs of a machine shop to port/polish the intakes. If you want to do heads and a cam while you're at it then it might be worth the money spent.

hes right about the windstar swap! try it out, i ported and polished my own intakes but its time consuming and u need to be some what of a perfectionist, i loved doing it myself that way i know its done right, ask to see whatever u get done at the shop before its installed, it needs to be evenly ported and check for marks and nicks on the side where the gasket goes, if there deep groves on that part the gasket will leak saw it for myself! jb weld or soemthing equivalent will work to fill it in with the sand it down! if you wanna try it yourself and have questions just send me a message and ill do what i can, good luck bro:thumbs2:

Re: intake manifold?

porting and polishing the heads and getting bigger valves and a cam would make a pretty nice diference doing anything with the intake manifold won't do much if anything until you do something with the heads

it want do anything BIG but you will notice a lil accelraion differnence between 1st and 2nd if you do it right, now port and polish the heads, intakes (lower&upper) all at once then add new cam, springs, valves and all that good stuff it would be like driving a totally different car lol, in the seat you would feel a HUGE diffence on dyno maybe 15-20 hp but it will feel like more! if you got them $$$$$ go for it man
